Students entering pre-K through eighth grade are invited to participate in our free evening VBS in July, “The Garden Project: growing through God’s Love.”

The program will run from 5:45 p.m. to 8 p.m. July 26-29. The project is sponsored jointly by St. Paul’s Lutheran, St. Matthews AME Zion and Sewickley United Methodist churches. Pre-K, kindergarten through grade five and middle school programs include music, Bible storytelling, games, snacks, science and crafts. St. Brendan’s Episcopal Church

St. Brendan’s is an open, welcoming and active church that holds in-person worship with Eucharist at 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Sundays, and 5 p.m. on Wednesdays.

Sunday School, for children of kindergarten age and up, is on hiatus for the summer, as is the monthly Children’s Service, which invites young members to take part by reading and serving during the liturgy.

Children’s bulletins from “Illustrated Ministry” will be available in the back of the sanctuary each Sunday this summer. They contain quiet activities for children that are drawn from the Sunday readings and can be used in church or at home.

The parish is seeking more volunteers to water, weed and harvest vegetables in the church’s Garden of Hope. The produce is donated to the North Hills Food Bank.

The Justice Ministry is leading a warm-weather clothing drive to benefit the Neighborhood Resilience Project in the Hill District. Parishioners are invited to donate gently used shirts, shorts and pants for men, women and children.

Clothing may be left in the church lobby.

Parishioners are collecting napkins, paper towels, plastic wrap, foil, food storage bags and products such as cleanser and window cleaners for the North Hills Food Bank. Donations may be left in the church lobby.

Sticks & Strings, the church group that likes to knit, crochet or embroider, meets on the third Tuesday and first Wednesday of the month at 6 p.m. in the library.

The Kids’ Community Closet is a “free-cycle” community space to share kids’ clothes (birth through size 14/16). All clothing is free and in good, very gently used condition — some items still have tags on. There are no applications, income requirements, or donations necessary.

The Kids’ Community Closet is located at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and is open 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday, and noon to 2:30 p.m. every Tuesday.

Prayer and Praise Service in the Garden is set for Aug. 5 at 6:30 p.m. Join in for an evening of prayer, scripture, praise and reflection in the church gardens (in the Sanctuary if it rains).

The Memory Loss Support Group is a faith community that desires to come alongside and encourage those who are dealing with memory loss and their loved ones. We use conversation, works of art, singing, stretching and stories. We welcome care partners to come and be encouraged by meeting others who are currently or have been in the same place you are now. Held the second Monday of every month, 10:30 a.m. to noon. Registration is required by contacting the church.

Our end-of-summer 5K runs through the beautiful village of Sewickley and supports an important cause: scholarships for Uganda Christian University. Beginning and ending at St. Stephen’s Anglican Church, this flat, fast course will appeal to both competitive runners and those just looking for a family-friendly community activity. Join us on Aug. 22 for a fun-filled morning of running, playing and fellowship.
