Bloom Market

Sweetwater Center for the Arts is partnering with local businesses Green Hen Farms and Two Little Blooms Garden for Sweetwater Blooms Market, a once-monthly, fresh flower market that will sell flowers, local artwork and garden-related items.

It pops up on Bank Street between Broad and Walnut streets in Sewickley this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 15. The market takes place once a month on Saturdays from May-October. For more information, visit sweetwatercenter.org.

Docks are open

The docks at Chestnut and Walnut streets in Sewickley are open for public use.

Book sale

Stock up on your summer stash of books at the Sewickley Public Library Book Sale on June 7-8, from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and June 9, from 1-3:30 p.m. Sunday is $5 bag sale day.

Hard to recycle

A hard to recycle event is planned for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 27 in Leetsdale Industrial Park at 380 Leetsdale Industrial Drive.

Cost is $5 per participant. It includes unlimited recycling of cell and home phones, computer towers and peripheral equipment, microwave ovens, stereo equipment, VCD and DVD players and more.

There are additional fees for florescent tubes, printers, tires, TVs and Freon appliances.

Leet commissioners will meet at 7 p.m. June 10 at the township building, 194 Ambridge Ave.

Sewickley council will meet at 6:30 p.m. June 11 at the borough building, 601 Thorn St.

Sewickley Hills council will meet at 7:30 p.m. June 11 at the borough building, 349 Magee Road.

Sewickley’s zoning hearing board meeting has been moved from June 4 to June 12 at 7 p.m. at the borough building.

Leetsdale council will meet at 7 p.m. June 13 at the borough building, 373 Beaver St.

Sewickley Heights council will meet at 4:30 p.m. June 17 at the borough hall, 238 Country Club Road.

Aleppo commissioners will meet at 7 p.m. June 17 at the municipal building, 100 North Drive.

Edgeworth council will meet at 7 p.m. June 17 at the borough building, 301 Beaver Road.

Glen Osborne council will meet at 7 p.m. June 18 at Osborne Elementary School, 1414 Beaver St.

Fourth of July fundraiser

Leetsdale Fourth of July Committee will host a spaghetti lunch and dinner June 7 at 373 Beaver Street. Lunch is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dinner is from 4-6 p.m. Meals are $10 and available for dine-in or take out. They include spaghetti with meatballs or marinara, salad and bread.

Library event set

Sewickley Public Library will host Sahaja meditation from 11 a.m. to noon June 15 at 500 Thorn Street. The program is designed to promote health and wellness, peace and relieve stress. The weekly meditation program is free. Newcomers are welcome. No registration is required.

Sewickley Garden Tour

Sewickley Civic Garden Council’s 2024 Sewickley Garden Tour is set for June 14-15. Guests can tour the grounds of five spectacular gardens in Sewickley and Edgeworth. Keeping with the tradition, on Friday evening there will be a sampling of wine and hors d’oeuvres at each of the five gardens.

Proceeds from the Sewickley Garden Tour will benefit the SCGC, a nonprofit organization made up of the members of five Sewickley-area Garden Clubs and Sustainable Sewickley. SCGC is dedicated to civic beautification and sustainability, education on the maintenance and use of plants, and the conservation of park and public green spaces in the greater Sewickley area.

General admission tickets are $50 for the Saturday Event on June 15, which runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. A garden preview event runs from 5:30 to 9 p.m. on June 14. Tickets for this event are $65.
