Guy Hildebrand, 75, a resident of Jeannette, and formerly of Johnstown, died peacefully, surrounded by family, on Friday, July 12, 2024, at UPMC Family Hospice in Lawrenceville after a brief illness. Guy was the loving husband of nearly 48 years, to Barbara (Filo) Hildebrand of Jeannette. Born Jan. 10, 1949, in New Kensington, and raised in Johnstown, Guy was the son of the late Jesse and Hazel (Stepp) Hildebrand. Guy retired as a manager from Martin's Food Stores in 2004, capping a long career in the grocery and convenience store industry. Guy and his family operated the Tioga Street Market in the Old Westmont section of Johnstown, for many years, where he worked alongside his children, creating a lifetime of memories. Guy was a talented artist and avid collector of Coca-Cola memorabilia, a fondness for which he developed while working for Johnstown Poster Advertising Company as a young man. He also enjoyed golfing, painting, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, the Christmas season, and doting on his grandson. The beach was Guy's happy place, and he cherished his family's annual week in the Outer Banks of NC, where time was spent fishing, swimming, lounging, collecting shells, and enjoying the company of loved ones. Besides his wife, Guy is survived by his children, daughter, Melissa Hildebrand of Irwin; and son, Stephen Hildebrand and his wife, Danielle; and grandson, Thomas, all of Stamford, CT. Guy is also survived by his brother, Jay Hildebrand and his wife, Shelley of Lake County, FL; brother-in-law, George Lohr of Johnstown; and many nieces and nephews. Guy was preceded in death by his sister, Claire (Hildebrand) Lohr of Johnstown. At Guy's request, there will be no viewing. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.Donations in Guy's memory may be made to UPMC Family Hospice West. For more information, please visit https://bit.ly/FamilyHospiceWest.
