Leona Ruth Baker Lewis, 96, of Norvelt, passed away April 8, 2024, at Kelly's II Personal Care Home in Unity Township. She was born March 29, 1928, in Mammoth, daughter of the late Howard S Baker and M. Elizabeth Miller Baker Ault. She was a graduate of Hurst High School, class of 1946. She married her grade school sweetheart, Gerald (Jerry) D. Lewis, on September 6, 1947, and they spent 65 years together. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Trauger. She was a former choir member, Sunday School teacher, member of the Lutheran Church Women, the Readers Club and one of the founding members of the Hilltop Quilters. She loved spending time with her family and friends, especially if they played Skip-Bo. She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Elizabeth Baker; her husband; Gerald D. Lewis, her brother; Howard W. Baker and wife Erma, and infant sister; stepfather J. Ray Ault and great-grandson; Stephen F. Long. She is survived by three children, Judith (Walter) Long of Norvelt, Gerald (Jerry Jr/ Harriette) Lewis of Abilene, Texas and Elizabeth (Betsy) Naggy of Latrobe; grandchildren Michael S. Long, Anne T. Levri, Joshua (Stephanie) Lewis, Eleanor (Randy) Willis; great-grandchildren Cecilia Long, Elise Long, Boston Willis, Judah Willis, Hope Willis and Liam Lewis; brother-in-law, Rodger B. Lewis and wife Nancy. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the caregivers she has had in the past four years at home and especially those she had at Kelly's II Personal Care Home and Bridges Hospice. Family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the HOFFER WILT FUNERAL HOME (formerly Jay A. Hoffer Funeral Home), Norvelt.
