James and Janice Chearney James Wayne Chearney, 82 of Phoenix, passed away May 1, 2024. He was born May 23, 1941 in Acme, PA to the late John W. and Blanche Keefer Chearney. Janice Bowman Chearney, his loving wife of 58 years, of Phoenix, passed away March 2, 2021, at the age of 79. She was born Sept. 28, 1941, in Greensburg, to the late George and Margaret 'Peg' Sheets Bowman of Laurelville. Jim graduated from Connellsville Area High School, class of 1959 and Jan graduated from Hurst High School, class of 1959. Jim and Jan were married Nov. 10, 1962, at Mount Joy Church in Mt. Pleasant, and moved to Phoenix in 1971. They were co-owners of Chearney Grading & Landscaping, and J&J RV Transport. They are survived by their children, Sandra, Wanda, James, and William; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren, all of AZ. Jim is also survived by his siblings, Lois Kalp (Jim), and John Chearney (Valerie); and extended family. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his brother, Orville Chearney and his wife, Gloria. Janice is also survived by her siblings, Marilyn Bungard, Donald Dean Bowman (Norma); her sister-in-law, Mary Catherine Bowman; and extended family. In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by her brothers, George and Jay Bowman; sister, Carol Mitchell; and her brother-in-law, Ronald Bungard. Jim and Jan maintained strong ties to Pennsylvania. They loved visiting family and friends here and having visitors in Arizona. No viewings were held, per their requests. In honoring Jim and Jan's wishes, a private inurnment will be held in Keslar Cemetery, Acme, PA at a later date.
