Sandra J. (Smith) Veltman, 74, of West Deer Township, died suddenly Wednesday, July 24, 2024. She was born May 26, 1950, in Lockport, NY, to the late Edward and Doreen (Houghton) Smith. Sandy grew up in Lockport, graduating from Lockport High School in 1967, she then attended and graduated from the University of Buffalo in 1975, with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Occupational Therapy. Then more recently went to the Trinity Anglican Seminary in Ambridge where she received her Master's Degree in Art and Religion in 2008. Sandra has lived in West Deer for over 39 years. She was a member of Monroeville Assembly of God Church for the past 2 years, and prior to that was a member of Abundant Joy Fellowship Church, Tarentum. Sandy worked for UPMC Health Network as an Occupational Hand Therapist, working in that specialty for over 40 years. Sandy enjoyed flowers, gardening, animals of all kinds and spending time with her family. Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Mark T. Veltman; her children, Timothy E. (Amber) Veltman of Rural Valley, Karen A. Veltman of Point Breeze and Mary E. (Steve) Buzonas of Pulaski; grandchildren, Zachery, Alex and Isabella; and her brother, Howe (Lynn) Smith of Boston, NY. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Edward Smith. Friends received Saturday 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME, 23 McKrell Road, Russellton, West Deer Township., where a funeral service will be conducted at 6 p.m. with the Rev. Andy Hoover, officiating. Her burial will be private.
