Sherman G. Johnson, 71, of Tarrs passed away Thursday, July 11, 2024, at Independence Excela Health Frick Hospital. Sherman was born on Aug. 7, 1952, the son of the late Clyde S.and Margret G. Berg Johnson. Sherman was a 1970 graduate of Southmoreland High School and was a member of the City Church, Connellsville. After graduation, he was employed at Anchor Hocking before entering Penn State University. He became the assistant manager at G.C. Murphys and then Ames department stores for many years and then retired from Cenova (Williamhouse). He is survived by Priscilla Johnson of Pittsville, VA, Kathy Potoka and husband, Thomas of Mt. Pleasant; sister-in-law, Vicki Johnson of Tarrs; and nieces and nephews, Michael Johnson and wife, Carolyn, Mary M. Danks, Jennipher and husband, Bryon Metzgar, Jennifer and husband, Jay Croddock, Jim and wife, Lisa Johnson, Jill Wiltrout and Andrew Johnson; and other numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Sherman was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Ann Danks; and a brother, James D. Johnson. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at SLATER-REGA FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 730 W. Main St., Mt. Pleasant, where services will be held at 1 p.m., on Thursday, July 18, 2024, with Rev Daniel Garstecki officiating. Interment will follow in the St. John's Middle Churches Cemetery.
