Effie M. "EF" Horner, 79, of Ligonier, passed away on Friday, July 12, 2024, at Concordia at Bethlen, Ligonier. She was born April 19, 1945, in Ligonier Township, a daughter of the late Frank and Helen Graver Palmer. EF was a member of the Laurel Highlands Church of Christ and had sang in a gospel group, "The Joy Bells," along with her mother and sisters for many years. Many of her enjoyments in life came from her family: singing, playing the piano, cooking, crocheting and the computer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Deloris M. "Dort" Lynn, Nellie Crowe and Jean Whetzel; her brother, George Palmer; and a grandson, Jeffrey W. Horner Jr. She is survived by her loving husband of over 61 years, Tracey Horner; her three sons, Barry Horner (Jackie) of Dillsburg, PA, Jeffrey W. Horner (Suzie) of Punxsutawney and James Horner (Kim) of Ligonier; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, in the McCABE FUNERAL HOME, 144 East Main St., Ligonier, where a service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 17, 2024. Interment will follow in the Menoher Cemetery.
