Fortunately, Pennsylvania is blessed with a smart and thoughtful governor, because its two senators have been such leadership no-shows. The one is a perfect imitation of an unplugged floor lamp, while the other seems, increasingly, in need of wearing his hoodie backwards.

Obviously, Sen. Fetterman, if your podcast remarks (“Fetterman says Trump Derangement Syndrome controls Democratic Party,” March 19, TribLive) are evidence, your purported hardscrabbling real-world experiences have failed you: That’s not Trump “Derangement” Syndrome we Dems — aka, those who elected you in the first place — are afflicted with, but Trump “OUTRAGEment” Syndrome … wondering when blatant displays of vulgarity, lawlessness, self-enrichment and bad judgment might, at least, ease up for a bit.

As you should know by now but seemingly don’t, it is MAGA who is afflicted with the syndrome of Trump’s derangement — the relentless refuting of the irrefutable. Your unwavering support of DonaBibi’s Billion-Bucks-a-Day War to Nowhere has already validated your go-along-to-get-along bona fides.

Why enable Markwayne Mullin’s nomination for DHS secretary? Do We the People deserve to have the most complex and sprawling agency of the federal government (260,000 people across 16 components, crucial to the well-being of 340 million Americans) put in the hands of someone so obviously underqualified and mentally underequipped? Assuming, of course, that running a family plumbing business, mixed martial arts and frequent outbursts of rage are not perfect for the position!
