Penn Hills Library OCTOBER ALL PROGRAMS ARE FREE! Library Programming Schedule ALL-AGES PROGRAMS MAKING WITH MOCKTAILS: GLOW IN THE DARK! Saturday, October 4th at 3:30 PM: Join us for seasonal drinks and fun crafts as we paint with neon paints! Registration isrequired. CHILDREN'S PROGRAMS SCAVENGER HUNT All Month Long Join us every month for a library Scavenger Hunt and eam that month's special prize! Scavenger hunts promote information literacy and teamwork in a fun-filled way. This month's theme is "fall finds." MUSIC & MOVEMENT Every Wednesday at 10:30 AM, 11:30 AM, and 5:30 PM Saturday, October 11th at 10:30 AM: Come to the library to sing, move, dance, and make music together in this music-based program! Music & Movement is designed for children ages 1 to 4 years old and focuses on developing gross motor skills. LET'S MOVE!: PRESCHOOL PALS Every Thursday at 10:30 AM Saturday, October 25th at 10:30 AM: Preschoolers get moving with action songs and rhymes, movement, and interactive stories that expand the imagination, inspire self-discovery, and develop early literacy skills. FAIRY TALE STEAM Thursdays, October 2nd and 9th at 4:30 PM: Once upon a time, there were readers who re-created fairy tales with new designs and innovation! Come experiment with fairy tales and test out the stories themselves. Please register. WIGGLES & GIGGLES: TODDLER TIME Every Friday at 10:30 AM: We will wiggle and giggle together as we share age- and developmentally-appropriate interactive stories, action songs, movements, and fingerplays. BABY RHYME TIME Every Monday at 3:30 PM and every Tuesday at 10:30 AM Saturday, October 4th at 10:30 AM: Bond with your little one and meet other parents and caregivers while doing so! We will explore the fun of rhythm and rhymes, bounces, and books to support early learning. Best for pre-walkers and crawlers but all are welcome! CRAFT AND CRAWL Monday, October 6th at 10:30 AM: We provide the art supplies and your little one creates the masterpiece! Designed with prewalkers, crawlers, and early walkers in mind. Please register. MAKER LAB Mondays, October 6th and 13th at 4:30 PM: Calling all Junior Makers ages 6 to 11! We will learn how to use machines and equipment to create something completely new! This month, we will use our heat press to make trick-ortreat bags or other canvas bag designs as well as circuitry to make bugs! Please register. PROCESS ART Tuesdays, October 7th and 14th at 4:30 PM: Children of all ages, explore, experiment, and create freely! Focus on the fun of the art process rather than the final product. Please register. READ AND CRAFT: MO WILLEMS' PIGEON BOOKS Wednesday, October 8th at 4:30 PM: Join us for fun read-alouds followed by an art project inspired by the books! This month, we will be reading books from the Mo Willems' Pigeon series. Please register. ARCHAEOLOGY GAME DAY! Saturday, October 11th at 1:00 PM: Celebrate International Archaeology Day with the Archaeological Institute of America and Dr. John Newell as we play an archaeology game and dig for clues at the library! Please register. TODDLER DANCE PARTY Monday, October 13th at 10:30 AM: Join us as we have fun using props to groove to the beat with our whole body! Toddlers will develop body and spatial awareness that supports early literacy. TECH OR TREAT Thursdays, October 16th and 23rd at 4:30 PM: If you love tech (and treats) this program is built for you! Enjoy some snacks as we play around with tech and participate in tech challenges like tech-take-apart and more! Please register. HALLOWEEN AT THE LIBRARY! Saturday, October 18th from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM: Celebrate Halloween with us at the library! We will have a Not-So-Spooky Dance Party for children ages birth to 5 at 10:30am followed by a Spooky Science Lab for children ages 6 to 11 at 11:00am. After that, we will all trick-or-treat together throughout the library. Finally, we will have pumpkin painting and a live insect petting zoo for all ages. We will build a fun obstacle course and circuits for your preschooler to explore and move about through the library.
