Bridgeville debuts improved Cook School Park
It’s time for basketball and pickleball games at Bridgeville’s Cook School Park.
Construction is complete at the park. It included demolition of the old basketball court area and a resurfaced court, new fencing, hoops and a fenced-in pickleball court, said Manager Joe Kauer.
Construction started in June. Contractors from Pave and Plow, Inc., of North Fayette, completed the work.
The project’s total cost was just more than $85,600, with a state grant paying half of the project costs.
Shrine plan nixed
Collier commissioners Sept. 9 voted down a request from the Ukrainian Catholic Diocese of St. Joshaphat that would have included development of a shrine and campus near the Centennial Pointe community.
The church had proposed rezoning 9.4 acres off Ridge Road and Baldwin Road Extension from residential to PEDD (Planned Economic Development District) and amending the text of the township’s zoning ordinance to allow for a “planned cultural center.”
About 25 people spoke during the hearing, the majority of whom raised concerns over traffic, infrastructure, noise and other effects the project would have. Proponents of the project said the project would bring in business and growth to the township.
