AUP/Association of University People

The Association of University People invites singles 50 , who are four-year college graduates, to join them for activities and to meet new people. Activities include monthly dinners, social gatherings, concerts, meeting up at local wineries, day trips and Scrabble.

Acting Up Club

On April 26 and 27 at 6 p.m., Acting Up Club will present its next musical “Star Factor.” The performances will be held at South Hills Church of the Nazarene, 5601 Library Road in Bethel Park. All are welcome to attend and admission is free.

Seniors for Safe Driving

State Rep. Natalie Mihalek will hold a Seniors for Safe Driving class at the Bethel Park School house from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. March 12. The courses are PennDOT-approved and designed for drivers over age 55. To register, call 1-800-559-4880 or visit SeniorsForSafeDriving.com.

Chabad of the South Hills

Camp Gan Izzy is set for June 30-July 1 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. each day. Children aged 4-11 are welcome to enjoy Jewish themes, specialty clubs, swimming, weekly trips, sports, science, baking and crafts with experienced staff in a warm and caring environment. Daily lunch and snacks are included. Early bird pricing until March 1 and limited scholarships are available.

Chabad of the South Hills presents Purim Comedy Night featuring John Pizzi Comedian and Ventriloquist at 7:30 p.m. March 13. Hear the Megillah and enjoy light bites and open bar. Purim in the Palace is set for 5 p.m. March 14 at Chabad of the South Hills, 1701 McFarland Road in Mt. Lebanon. The event will feature an animated Megillah reading, royal Purim feast and more. South Hills Women’s Club

The South Hills Women’s Club will meet on March 10 at Vanadium Woods Lobby, 50 Vanadium Road, Bridgeville, at 8 p.m. Following a brief meeting, guest speaker Amanda Dunyak Gillen will speak on “The History of the Frick Pittsburgh, the Frick family and mansion, the Clayton.”

Gillen is the director of learning and visitor experience at the Frick Pittsburgh. She will present a program about the Frick family and its most important legacies in the city – their mansion and art museum in Point Breeze.

South Hills Coin Club

The monthly meeting of the South Hills Coin Club will be held March 11 at 7:30 p.m. at the Bethel Park municipal building, 5100 West Library Ave. All members and the general public are invited. This month’s program will the gold confiscation of 1933 part 2. A 50/50 will be offered and children’s prizes to be awarded. Applications are now being accepted for membership. South Hills Church of the Nazarene

The congregation of the South Hills Church of the Nazarene, 5601 Library Road in Bethel Park, invites you share in our Lenten Journey.

On April 13 there will be a Youth Ministries sponsored Palm Sunday pancake breakfast, from 8-9:30 a.m. To register for the breakfast, visit shcn.org/easter.

Also on April 13, the Palm Sunday service and our annual musical Easter celebration is set for 10 a.m.

The Stations of the Cross begins at 7 p.m. April 16.

On April 17, Stations of the Cross/Maundy Thursday will end in the sanctuary at 7 p.m. Communion will be served. A Traditional Tenebrae service is set for 7 p.m. Good Friday, April 18.

On April 20, the Easter Sunday service takes place at 10 a.m.

Cash and prize bash

The Bethel Park Lions Club is hosting a cash and prize bash from 6-10 p.m. March 22 at the Bethel Park Community Center. Cost is $65 per person and only 200 numbered tickets will be sold. A dinner and drinks only option is available for $35. Ticket price includes hors d’oeuvres, dinner, dessert and drinks. Additional raffle tickets will be sold for 50/50, instant winner tickets and a bonus $400 cash jackpot.
