Three people were injured in a crash Friday that closed a section of Route 356 in the Piper Road area of Allegheny Township for about an hour Friday afternoon, a Westmoreland County 911 supervisor said.

One person was trapped in their vehicle, the dispatcher said. Three people, two from one vehicle and one from the other, were taken from the scene for treatment. No information on their injuries was available.

The crash was reported shortly before noon and the road was closed until about 1 p.m.

First responders requested a medical helicopter, but it did arrive because of adverse weather conditions, the dispatcher said. Police at the scene asked for crews to expedite their response.

Township police could not be reached for information Friday.
