Pickleball courts installed at Scott Park

The pickleball blitz has made its way to Scott.

The township installed four pickleball courts at Scott Park, 2 Park Drive, in June.

“Residents were making requests for additional pickleball courts since last year,” said Township Manager Denise Fitzgerald.

The work was completed by Mele & Mele & Sons.

Free shredding event slated in Bridgeville

State Rep. Anita Kulik is sponsoring a free paper shredding event from 9 to 11 a.m. on Sept. 7 at the Bridgeville VFD.Papers must be loose and not include binder or paper clips. Documents will be shredded on-site. 

Carnegie ArtsWalk

The Carnegie Crawl and ArtsWalk will take over downtown Carnegie from 5 to 9 p.m. on Aug. 11.

Featured events include gallery exhibits, artist demonstrations, plein air artists, food and live music.

Studio Summer Jazz Series

The Andrew Carnegie Free Library and Music Hall will host a studio summer jazz series at 7 p.m. on Aug. 1 with the Reggie Watkins Quartet.

Watkins is jazz trombonist known for his distinctive style, and is widely regarded as one of the most soulful trombonists of his generation.

The concert features Watkins’ most popular tunes and plays a sneak peek of his upcoming album.

Finance consulting services

McCausland Consulting Services, Inc. will provide business and operational services to the Chartiers Valley School District.

It will fill the role of the district’s director of finance and operations until a new director is hired. Patricia Connolly, the district’s former director of finance and operations, resigned effective July 18.

Carnegie grab-n-go lunches

Free grab-n-go summer lunches for local children outside of Crafton and Carnegie elementary schools continues from 11 a.m. to noon every Monday, Wednesday and Friday through Aug. 16.

Flag football signups

Flag football signups are underway at the Carnegie Boys & Girls Club. Join the co-ed league or the new girls-only league.

School transportation study

The Chartiers Valley School Board in June approved the Pennsylvania State of School Business Officials for consultation services for school district transportation operations.

For $10,000, PASBO will analyze current operations and make recommendations for improvement.

CV student meal prices

Chartiers Valley set meal prices for students for the upcoming school year.

Breakfast will be free. Lunch at the primary and intermediate schools will be $2.85. Lunch at the middle and high schools is $3.10.

Coaches hired

Athletic coaches and their stipends in Chartiers Valley were approved by the school board in June.

• Bill Priddy will be the baseball team’s head coach, with Tobe Resetar and Greg Matthews as his assistants. Head coach of the JV baseball team will be Devin Dunn, assisted by Orlando Bellasario. Other baseball coaches include Eugene Bragano, Shane Waldern and Steve Waldern.

• Corey Dotchin was named head coach of the varsity boys basketball team. He will be assisted by Derrick Chimmer, Joe Pipilo and Gino Federico. Other coaches in the program are Anthony Bomar, Jay Cruz, Chad Warren, Tyler Valentine and Tom Kubiscek.

• Mike Semplice will lead the varsity girls basketball team, and his assistant coaches are Kathy Helfrick and volunteers Hayden Herzer and Wayne Capers. The JV girls basketball coach is Jim Trainor. Other coaches in the program include Mandy Turnbull and Chad Warren.

• Cheerleading coaches are Johannah West, Ali Cottom and Gabby Usaraga.

• Cross Country coaches are Lori Poe, Adam Sivitz, James Mangan and Jason Gardner.

• Shay Muraco was named equipment manager.

• Jason Fitzpatrick will be head coach of the Colts football team. Varsity assistants include Josh Kirby, Nick Carnicella, Bronson Pryzblinski, Orlando Bellisario, Josh O’Brien, Javon Hines, Chaz Tranter and Akeem Moore. Volunteer varsity assistants are Garrett Heron, Chris Oparanozie, Jerry Best and Connor Barrett. Other football coaches include Jamie Calabria, Sam Glover, Malik Wells and Jonathan Kyle.

• Mark McAleer was named head coach of the golf team; Chris Meyers is the varsity assistant.

• Lauren Bradford is volunteering as gymnastics coach.

• Dominic Tolomeo is head coach of the boys varsity lacrosse team. Michael Kingan will be his assistant coach. Melissa Moran is head coach of the girls varsity lacross team, with Alayna Fuchs as her assistant coach.

• The head coach of the varsity boys soccer team is Mike Blatz. William Douglass is varsity assistant. Carl Sitara will be the JV coach, and Dave MacKenzie will volunteer as JV assistant. Other coaches in the program include Mike Waldron, Dave Sinclair and Emily Weismanle.

• The head coach of the varsity girls soccer team is David Zinski. Erica Marshall is varsity assistant. Joe Kessler will be the JV coach, and Karlon Nixon will volunteer as JV assistant. Other coaches in the program include Frank Trosky and Stan Lacek.

• Chris Lloyd will lead the girls varsity softball team, and varsity assistants include David Giehl, Ashley Lagnemma and Mia Pocci. Other coaches in the program include Bill Cappazolli.

• Morgan Souila is head coach of both varsity and middle school swimming. Cate Gannon will be the middle school assistant coach.

• The head coach for both varsity boys and girls tennis is Robert Mack. Rich Pattinato is boys JV coach, and Alex Plumb is girls JV coach.

• Lori Poe is the head coach of the track and field team. Assistant coaches include James Mangan, Laurel Dinnan, Jason Gardner, Joe Obeldobel and Joseph Findley. Middle school track coaches are Chris Saluga, Ben Kracz, Regan Smith and Johanna West. Poe and Mangan will coach indoor track.

•Mackenzie Greene is head coach of the volleyball team; other coaches include Morgan Chapman, Tina Mulligan and Megan Lesniak.

• Wrestling coaches include varsity head coach Bill Evans, varsity assistants Robert Mack and Mike Macy; other coaches are Zack Macy and Tyler Branch.
