If this were a Hallmark movie, there would not have been another accident in the 1600 block of Arona Road. Two people would not have been life-flighted to the hospital, a third taken by ambulance. Two years ago, a woman would not have died in my front yard.

If this were a Hallmark movie, there would be a meeting. Cue all residents of Arona Road, community leaders, first responders, police officers, the high school marching band and cute puppies. A plan would emerge that drivers would take to heart. A miracle would happen. It would once again be safe to walk across the road to get the mail.

The tractor-trailers and oversize loads would use the real turnpike. The speeders (I’m looking at you, 70-mph red motorcycle at 4:35 p.m. every day) would realize the danger they are creating, deciding to slow down — waving and smiling as they go by.

If this were a Hallmark movie, safety would ensue, goodwill would prevail and there would be a marriage proposal. (Just roll with the analogy … .)

But since this is not a Hallmark movie, please show some respect and slow down!
