In this episode of the Pittsburgh Pop podcast, host Tim Benz and TV Talk columnist Rob Owen discuss Pittsburgh pop culture news of the moment, including filmed-in-Pittsburgh “Rustin,” now streaming on Netflix, and new Emmy honors for Pittsburgh actor David Newell, who played Mr. McFeely on “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood.”
Benz and Owen also discuss the return of Urkel, the breakout character from ABC’s 1989-98 sitcom “Family Matters.” Urkel is back in a new 75-minute animated film, the PG-rated “Urkel Saves Santa: The Movie!” ($15), now available for digital purchase via Amazon Prime Video, AppleTV, Google Play, Vudu, and more. Actor Jaleel White again voices Urkel.
The pair also weigh in on the Charissa Thompson controversy after the Fox Sports/Amazon NFL host claimed she fabricated sideline reports.
Owen reports on the arrival of “Ghosts UK” on CBS and Benz offers his take on the season finale of “The Morning Show.”
And Owen shares the news that the final installment of “Wolf Hall” on PBS’s “Masterpiece” has started production.
