Giant Eagle officials have issued a voluntary recall of multi-grain sourdough bread sold at its Monroeville store on Monroeville Boulevard.
A limited amount of bread, sold at the store’s bakery, was incorrectly labeled as “multi-grain Tuscany,” resulting in an undeclared sesame allergen being potentially present. It was discovered during a routine inventory check, and all affected loaves of bread were taken off store shelves.
Those with an allergy or severe sensitivity to sesame could experience a serious allergic reaction if they consume it.
Giant Eagle officials said no reports of illness have yet been associated with the recall.
The bread was baked and sold Feb. 24, with a sell-by date of Feb. 26 and can be identified by the PLU number 77624, printed on the upper right corner of the label.
Customers who have purchased recalled bread should dispose of it or return a qualifying receipt to the Monroeville Giant Eagle for a refund. For more details, call 800-553-2324.
