With rain in the forecast, it may be tempting to stay inside and scroll on your phone all weekend. But why do that when there are heaps of (indoor) events to enjoy instead? Here’s a few ideas.
Steel City Con
If you’re a big pop culture fan, there’s nowhere better to be this weekend than Steel City Con at the Monroeville Convention Center.
This year, visiting celebrities include Linda Blair, Ron Howard, Tom Wilson and Christopher Loyd from “Back to the Future,” Henry Winkler, James Van Der Beek and many more. There will be celebrity Q&As and panels throughout the weekend.
In addition, the convention will host a vendor market, costume contest, trivia contests and many other events throughout the weekend. Hours are Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets can be bought ahead of time or at the door, and children under 10 get in for free.

Music of the ’80s with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra

The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra will perform the program “Total Eclipse of the Charts” this weekend, in addition to a pianist and three vocalists to bring an extra dimension to this ultimate hit parade.
Shows will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Heinz Hall. Tickets range from $25 to $107. Get yours at pittsburghsymphony.org.
Trans Day of Visibility Resource and Advocacy Fair
Trans Day of Visibility was March 31, and to celebrate, the First Methodist Church of Pittsburgh is holding a resource fair.
The event will bring together organizations and resources for the health, advocacy and community of trans people and the people who love them. This also includes mental health, political and theological resources.
Refreshments will be available at this event, and all are welcome. The event will be held from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Sunday in the Fellowship Hall of the First United Methodist Church, 5401 Centre Ave. in Bloomfield. Learn more at the Facebook event here.
Reggie Watts
Comedian and musician Reggie Watts will perform this weekend at Spirit Hall in Lawrenceville. This fascinating and disorienting comedian and talented musician headed up the house band for “The Late Late Show with James Corden.” He also appeared on several other late-night shows and has released several albums and specials on Netflix.
The show will beheld at 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Spirit in Lawrenceville, with doors opening at 7:30 p.m. This event is only for people 21 and over. Learn more at spiritpgh.com.
Pittsburgh Ballet THeatre’s Spring Mix
Celebrating its 55th anniversary season, this year the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre will perform five pieces for its “Spring Mix.” Three are audience favorites from previous shows and two are brand-new world premiere performances.
