There’s no panic quite like the one a holiday host feels when realizing they left a crucial ingredient off the Thanksgiving shopping list.
If an emergency cranberry sauce run needs to happen, we’ve published a list of national chain store holiday hours, and here are a handful of local options:
• Giant Eagle stores are open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day.
• Shop’n Save hours will vary from store to store. Contact your local store for their holiday hours.
• Community Supermarket locations in Penn Hills, Lower Burrell, Harrison and Pittsburgh’s Bloomfield neighborhood are open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day.
• The three Whole Foods locations (East Liberty, Upper St. Clair, Wexford) are open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Foodland locations in Monessen, Washington, Beaver Falls and Monongahela will be closed.
• The following major chains will be closed on Thanksgiving: Walmart, Target, Costco, Sam’s Club, Aldi, and Trader Joe’s.
• Among major pharmacy chains, CVS will close all of its non-24-hour stores early on Thanksgiving. Call your local store to check their hours. Most Walgreens will be closed; however, nearly all 24-hour Walgreens will remain open
Other notable closures
• All government offices will be closed.
• Most, if not all, trash collection will not take place. Check with your local hauler or municipality to be sure.
• There will be no U.S. mail delivery.
