Bike parade, pancake breakfast
Bradford Woods Volunteer Fire Company will host a bike parade and pancake breakfast on Aug. 24 at Station 115, 4908 Wexford Run Road.
Lineup and judging of decorated bicycles is at 9 p.m. Helmets are mandatory.
Categories are pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, first grade, second grade, third grade, fourth grade, fifth grade, sixth grade, and seventh grade and up. The pancake breakfast is from 9 to 10:30 a.m., by donation.

Marshall Community Day
Marshall Township Community Day is scheduled for Aug. 24 at Knob Hill Park. The event will start at 4 p.m. and wrap up with Zambelli Fireworks around 9:30.
Featured are live music, food and drinks, inflatable attractions, a petting zoo, Mad Science show, balloon artist, face painting, touch-a-truck area and more.
McCandless Community Day
Community Day will take place in McCandless on Sept. 14.
The event will kick off with a performance by the North Allegheny Marching Band and concludes with fireworks. Additionally, there will be rides, face painting, balloon animals, performances (including the Allegheny Brass Band) and food trucks.
Food preservation talk
Longvue Acres Garden Club will host a presentation on home food preservation by Penn State Master Gardener Beth Kocis on Aug. 27 at Northmont United Presbyterian Church, 8169 Perry Highway, McCandless.
She will explain the scientific reasoning behind today’s recommended methods for food preservation while dispelling myths and unsafe practices of the past. The presentation will begin at 7:45 p.m., after a 7 o’clock business meeting.

Pumpkin fest vendors sought
Ascension Lutheran Church is planning its 10th annual Pumpkin Fest and Flea Market for 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 12 at 8225 Peebles Road, McCandless.
Homemade apple and pumpkin pies will be for sale, along with hot dogs, homemade soups, beverages and, of course, pumpkins.

Concert series continues
McCandless Crossing is hosting its annual outdoor summer concert series through Sept. 30, featuring local and regional performers in a variety of musical genres. Concerts take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and Thursday under the large white canopy tent on the Town Green, between Old Navy and Ethan Allen.
North Hills Community Outreach will hold a food donation drive at the Sept. 12 concert. Northland Public Library volunteers will host children’s activities at concerts on Aug. 29 and Sept. 16.

Pooches in the Pool at North Park
Pooches in the Pool, the annual end-of-summer celebration sponsored by the Allegheny County Parks Department, will be from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Sept. 2 at the pools of Boyce Park, North Park and Settlers Cabin Park.
South Park is not included this year due to the installation of a new pool liner.
Tickets are $20 per dog for Allegheny County residents, and each dog can be accompanied by up to two guardians.
Only one dog per guardian will be permitted.
Additional guardians and guests are $5 per person, payable at the gate for entry.
All dogs must wear current tags displaying up-to-date vaccinations before entrance. Electronic or paper proof of vaccinations also can be presented to staff upon entering the facility.
