Louis Robert Moran, 79, of Hyde Park, passed away Monday, March 20, 2023, in his residence. A son of the late Thomas Moran and Thelma (Hazen) Moran, he was born March 22, 1943, in Pittsburgh. Louis was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Air Force. He had been employed as a supervisor by Alcoa in Plum for 19 years before retirement. He also worked for Export Tire Co. previously. Louis was of the Catholic faith. He enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Penguins and Steelers play. He was a die-hard NASCAR fan who attended many races. One of the highlights of his life was getting to drive an actual NASCAR race car at the "Richard Petty Driving Experience" in Las Vegas. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Linda L. (Conto) Moran, of Hyde Park; and siblings, Margaret "Peg" Gelm (Joseph), of Garner, N.C., John Moran, of Cheswick, Thomas Moran (Peggy), of Avonmore, Marcella Rodites, of Allegheny Township, Teresa Omecinski (Terry), of Upper Burrell, James Moran (Beverly), of Jacksonville, Fla., Denise McGovern (Gary Batten), of Washington Township, Lawrence Moran (Lailla), of Apollo, and Garry Moran (Brenda), of Washington Township. His family says thank you to hospice for their wonderful care of Lou with special thanks to nurse Jamie Slater and CNA Laura Cevario. The CLAWSON FUNERAL & CREMATION CENTER, 170 Main St., Leechburg, 724-842-1051, has been entrusted with private arrangements. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
