A Pittsburgh man has been arrested in connection with the death of a 5-day-old infant last month, Pittsburgh police said Friday.

The suspect, Shawn Martin, 30, who was accused of the death on Dec. 16 of Jah’Shawn O. Martin, was arrested in the city’s Brookline neighborhood on Friday by Pittsburgh police detectives with the violent crime and fugitive apprehension units. The U.S. Marshals Western Pennsylvania Fugitive Task Force assisted.

Martin is charged with criminal homicide and endangering the welfare of a child.

Police said they found the baby boy unresponsive when they arrived at a residence in the 600 block of Mount Pleasant Road shortly after midnight Dec. 16.

The infant was transported by medics in critical condition to UPMC Children’s Hospital or Pittsburgh, but died a short time later.
