Police have arrested a second suspect in the 2021 fatal shooting of a young man in Pitcairn — and they’re looking for two more people they say are also responsible for his death.

Finel Javon Thompson, 21, of Wall, was charged Friday with criminal homicide, tampering with evidence, recklessly endangering another person and firearms violations in connection with the shooting death of Kaliq Dade, 20, of McKeesport.

Thompson was in Allegheny County Jail on unrelated charges, police said. Court records did not list an attorney for him.

Allegheny County Police said officers on patrol heard several gunshots around 1:30 p.m. Aug. 20, 2021, in the 100 block of Center Avenue.

Pitcairn and Monroeville police found Dade in the rear of a vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound, police said. He died while paramedics were rushing him to an area hospital.

One officer saw a vehicle driving away from the scene and it was found a short time later in Turtle Creek, police said. The sole occupant was Johnathon Nathan Dawson, 18, of White Oak, who police charged with criminal homicide and conspiracy in connection with the shooting.

Dawson is in Allegheny County Jail, where he was denied bail in August 2021 and May 2022, court records show.

Jury selection in his trial is scheduled to start Jan. 22, 2024, in front of Common Pleas Judge Kelly Bigley.

Monroeville-based attorney Patrick Thomassey, who represents Dawson, was not immediately available for comment Friday afternoon.

Police said four suspects were responsible for the fatal shooting. Police said they are attempting to identify the final two people.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Allegheny County Police Tip-line at 1-833-ALL-TIPS (255-8477). Callers can remain anonymous. The department can also be reached via its social media sites.
