Plant sale planned

The Irwin Garden Club plant sale will be held from 9 a.m. to noon May 17 at the Norwin Public Library, Caruthers Lane, Irwin.

Perennials and gently-used garden items will be for sale. Cash only will be accepted on all transactions. The sale will be held, rain or shine.

Bus trip slated

A bus trip to Morgantown, W.Va., on June 5, for a tour of downtown Morgantown, a stop at a bakery, artisan shops, shopping at a tea outlet, a visit to actor Don Knotts’ statue and a visit to a winery is planned for June 5.

The bus is scheduled to leave from the Norwin Hills Shopping Center along Route 30 in North Huntingdon at 7 a.m. June 5 and return at 8:30 p.m.

The cost is $175 per person and checks are to be mailed to the trip organizer, Virgie Smith, at 6 E. Lincoln Ave., N. Irwin, Pa. 15642

Art League plans classes

The Norwin Art League will hold classes for adults, children and teens in youth painting, oil painting, watercolors and crocheting over the next few months.

Advanced registration is required for all classes and workshops. The art league accepts credit cards, cash, and checks.

The price of the 11 x 14 canvas is $10 and the fee for the oil paint needed for the painting is $8. A 12x16 canvas is $12 and the oil paint fee is $10.

The teacher will try to emphasize a new skill each week and students will be able to utilize a traceable pattern for use with the painting.

Those who want to learn to crochet the easy way will get a solid foundation on how to crochet many items from Heather Kirkland.

An observational drawing class for beginners to advanced artists, age 12 and older, will be taught by Thomas Tholen. Students will draw looking at looking at and using shapes and values, blending, composition, basic perspective, one-point, two-point texture, aerial perspective composition. Classes are from May 2 to 23.

Car Cruise slated

Fans of domestic and foreign cars, trucks, motorcycle and muscle cars can cruise the 17th Annual Norwin Band Aides Car Cruise from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 18 at Norwin Middle School, 10870 Mockingbird Lane, North Huntingdon.

The fundraiser for the band booster group will feature a raffle. There will be an award for Best of Show and Furthest Traveled to the car cruise.

The fee is $10 to register a vehicle. Checks may be made payable to Norwin Band Aides, c/o Eric Friez, 11909 Quarterhorse Dr., North Huntingdon, Pa. 15642. When pre-registering, include name, phone number, address, vehicle year and model and the class for which the vehicle will be entered.
