Pittsburgh police nab suspect in homicide

A Pittsburgh man is jailed in connection with the fatal shooting of a man in the city’s Lincoln-Lemington neighborhood in April 2021, police said.

Riyad Christian, 24, was arrested in the 2600 block of Brownsville Road around 1:20 p.m. Monday.

Police said he fatally shot Don Angelo Castapheny, 15, of Pittsburgh, in the 1300 block of Montezuma Street on April 13, 2021.

Christian had been wanted on a homicide warrant since Nov. 15, 2022. He faces charges of homicide, robbery, conspiracy, illegal firearms possession and corruption of minors, online court records show.

Christian’s brother, Hanif Green, was arrested Nov. 19, 2022, in connection with the same homicide. He is being held in Allegheny County Jail pending his trial.


Pittsburgh police seek missing boy

Pittsburgh police are seeking help in finding a 13-year-old boy who they say has been missing since 9:30 a.m. Saturday.

Ronnell Miller Jr. was last seen when he was dropped off at Brighton Road and Marshall Avenue. He did not return home to Turtle Creek by 9 p.m. as planned and has not been heard from since.

Miller is described as being 5 feet, 6 inches tall and 130 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

He was last seen wearing a green zip hoodie, blue jeans and black, orange and green Puma shoes. He does not have a cellphone.

Anyone with information on Miller’s whereabouts is asked to call Allegheny County 911 or police headquarters at 412-323-7800.


Woman stabbed in Homewood

A woman who was stabbed in Homewood on Monday afternoon was hospitalized in stable condition, Pittsburgh police said.

The woman, whose identity was not released, had stab wounds and cuts on her arms, police said. Police believe she was stabbed sometime before 3:30 p.m. in the 7200 block of Frankstown Road, but police received the report that the injured woman was at Felicia Way and Durango Way.

Pittsburgh Fire and EMS also responded to the stabbing and she was conscious and alert and speaking with officers, but not forthcoming about how she suffered her injuries .
