Edinboro recorded a safety to break a fourth-quarter tie, upsetting Robert Morris, 23-21, on Saturday night.
With the score tied 21-21, Edinboro’s Reed Martin (Plum) backed Robert Morris up to its own 1 with a 74-yard punt. On first down, Edinboro’s Tristan Waldier, a Yough graduate, forced a fumble by Robert Morris quarterback Anthony Chiccitt at the 2-yard line that rolled out of the back of the end zone for a safety.
Isaac Bernard went 20 for 27 for 161 yards and two touchdowns for Edinboro (1-1), a member of the NCAA Division II PSAC coached by Jake Nulph, a graduate of Robert Morris and Apollo-Ridge.
Teagan Brown caught eight passes for 80 yards and a touchdown and Caron Robinson ran for 91 yards for the Fighting Scots, who jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first half and took a 21-14 advantage in the third quarter on a 5-yard touchdown catch by Clayton Bezan.
DJ Moyer scored on a 12-yard run with 13:04 left as Robert Morris (0-2), a member of the Division I FCS Northeast Conference, tied the score 21-21.
Division II
University of Charleston 23, Cal (Pa.) 19 – Chavon Wright ran for 126 yards and three touchdowns to lead No. 23 University of Charleston (2-0) over Cal (Pa.) (0-1). Bobby Boyd Jr. ran for 119 yards and a touchdown to pace the Vulcans.
Slippery Rock 22, New Haven 7 – Brayden Long threw for 128 yards with touchdown passes to Kam Kruzelyak and Mike Solomon and Eddie Faulkner IV returned a fumble 32 yards for a score as No. 11 Slippery Rock (1-0) opened its season with a victory over New Haven (0-1)
Division III
Allegheny 20, Bethany 14 – Trevor Brncic threw for 273 yards and two touchdowns to lead Allegheny (1-0, 1-0) to the PAC win at Bethany (0-1, 0-1). Austin Williams caught seven passes for 95 yards for Allegheny while teammate Ian Durci had seven receptions for 65 yards and one touchdown. Amarion Williams had 15 tackles, including 10 solo, and three sacks for Bethany.
Carnegie Mellon 58, Thiel 0 – Ben Mills threw for 159 yards and four touchdowns and the Tartans defense allowed only 75 yards as No. 22 Carnegie Mellon (1-0, 1-0) routed Thiel (0-1, 0-1) in PAC play. Brendan McCullough caught five passes for 109 yards and three touchdowns. Carnegie Mellon scored all of its points in the first half.

Dagyn Williams caught a 79-yard touchdown pass from Leechburg grad Thomas Burke III to account for the lone score for Waynesburg (0-1, 0-1).
Grove City 41, Geneva 0 – Logan Pfeuffer threw for 258 yards and two touchdowns as Grove City (1-0, 1-0) outgained Geneva (0-1, 0-1) 594-62 in a PAC win. Daniel Sullivan caught five passes for 112 yards and a touchdown, Ian Demeri ran for 125 yards and a TD and Nico Flati added 113 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Caleb Brubaker recorded eight tackles, a sack and a forced fumble for the Wolverines defense.
Washington & Jefferson 59, Saint Vincent 6 – In PAC play, Jacob Pugh tosses for 362 yards and four touchdowns as Washington & Jefferson (1-0, 1-0) scored 49 first-half points on the way to beating Saint Vincent (0-1, 0-1). Jacob Macosko caught 10 passes for 158 yards and two touchdowns for the Presidents while John Peduzzi added five receptions for 127 yards and a touchdown. Washington & Jefferson outgained Saint Vincent 578-173.
