Abby Lee Miller sells Penn Hills 'Dance Moms' studio

Reality TV star Abby Lee Miller appears to have closed the final chapter on “Dance Moms,” a Lifetime network series that led her to fame, as she has sold the Penn Hills dance studio where the show began.

According to Allegheny County real estate records, the studio was sold to Timothy Krise of Punxsutawney, owner of Krise Transportation, this month for $300,000.

Krise said a representative for Miller contacted him for a possible sale.

“We already have a … property next door,” Krise said. “We’ve been expanding business in the area and thought this was a great opportunity.”

He intends to use the space as a training center for bus drivers, which have been in short supply at surrounding school districts. The company has more than 160 employees in the area and plans to remodel the inside of the building.

The Saltsburg Road studio was the site of filming the 2011 reality show “Dance Moms.” The show’s rising popularity led to three spin-offs, including “Dance Moms: Miami” and “Abby’s Ultimate Dance Competition.”

Miller appeared on the show for seven seasons until 2017, when she was arrested and charged with bankruptcy and fraud. The reality star served a year in federal prison after entering a guilty plea.

Miller announced that she was leaving Dance Moms and Lifetime in 2020.

In 2021, Miller made headlines again when she filed a lawsuit against American Airlines and Pittsburgh International Airport after claiming that an employee of the airport dropped her while transferring her from one wheelchair to another after a 2019 flight.
