A pair of veteran classic rock bands that haven’t played together in 10 years are touring next summer, including a stop outside Pittsburgh.
Styx and Foreigner are launching the Renegade & Juke Box Heroes tour, including a show on July 31, 2024, at the Pavilion at Star Lake. John Waite will open the show.
“We’re very excited to be sharing the concert stage with Foreigner and John Waite in the summer of 2024,” Styx founding guitarist James “JY” Young said in a release. “We have previously toured with Foreigner, and the result was both bands kicked (butt) and had a great time doing it. Looking forward to seeing everybody this summer!”
Styx is known nationally for songs like “Come Sail Away” and “Mr. Roboto,” but their “Renegade” rules Pittsburgh, where it’s used as a pump-up song by the Steelers. The bands are taking turns as the headliner, but Styx will close at Star Lake.
With songs like “I Want to Know What Love Is,” “Juke Box Hero” and “Hot Blooded,” Foreigner last year announced their farewell tour, which kicked off this summer and runs through 2024.
“As we continue on with our farewell tour, I have been very moved by the support and reaction of all of our fans,” Foreigner singer Kelly Hansen said. “To perform these next shows with our friends Styx and John Waite makes it even better. I am so looking forward to spending many beautiful summer nights all around the country, full of great classic rock music and great friends.”
Tickets go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. Dec. 8 at livenation.com with several presales beginning at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
