Voters in Western Pennsylvania headed out to the polls Tuesday to decide races from Westmoreland County commissioners to the Allegheny County executive and district attorney.

Here’s what we know about the results Tuesday night:

Statewide

Pennsylvania Supreme Court

• Democrat Dan McCaffery won an open seat on Pennsylvania’s Supreme Court in Tuesday’s general election, preserving a strong Democratic majority on a panel that has produced several critical election-related rulings in the presidential battleground state. Read more.

• Democrat Sara Innamorato rolled to a historic win Tuesday night over Republican Joe Rockey in the hotly contested race for Allegheny County executive. Read more.

Allegheny County District Attorney

Matt Dugan Stephen A. Zappala Jr.

• Longtime Allegheny County District Attorney Stephen A. Zappala Jr. defeated challenger Matt Dugan by more than 3 percentage points in a battle for the county’s top law enforcement post. Read more.

Allegheny County races

• In other countywide races, several incumbents won contested elections to keep their positions on Allegheny County council. Democrat Bethany Hallam of Pittsburgh’s Brighton Heights and Republican Sam DeMarco of North Fayette retained their at-large county council seats. Read more.

• Democrat Patrick A. Sweeney on Tuesday won this year’s only open seat on the Allegheny County Common Pleas Court bench, collecting nearly 59% of the votes cast to defeat Republican nominee Anthony DeLuca, according to unofficial results. Read more.

Allegheny County municipalities races

• Two Monroeville Council incumbents won reelection in their wards as Democrats, and a Republican defeated a former council member for another seat, according to unofficial Allegheny County results. Read more.

• In a race where only 29 votes separated the four candidates, Erik Brannock and Robert Suchevits were able to claim two Harmar supervisor seats. Read more.

• One incumbent and two newcomers won four-year supervisor seats in West Deer. Read more.

• Mike Conley will serve another six years on Upper Burrell’s board of supervisors. Read more.

• Republicans won the three Bridgeville Borough Council seats up for election on Nov. 7, defeating two incumbent Democrats in the process, according to unofficial Allegheny County results. Read more.

• Republicans took three out of the four Bethel Park Council seats up for election on Nov. 7, according to unofficial Allegheny County results. Read more.

• Four Gateway School Board incumbents won reelection, and they will be joined by two new members, according to unofficial Allegheny County results posted Nov. 7. Read more.

• The majority of the races in the Shaler area were uncontested. Read more.

• Two longtime incumbents and a 22-year-old newcomer were victorious in the East Deer Board of Commissioners election Tuesday. Read more.

• Several incumbents retained their seats while others were dethroned in contested Quaker Valley area races Nov. 7. Read more.

• The outgoing New Kensington-Arnold School Board approved a raise for the district’s superintendent over the objection of one of three new members set to join the board in December. Read more.

• Two Republicans were elected to four-year terms on Hampton Township Council, according to unofficial Allegheny County election results. Read more.

• Two newcomers, a Republican and a Democrat, were elected to O’Hara Council on Tuesday for four-year terms. Read more.

Pittsburgh City Council incumbents running for reelection Tuesday cruised to easy victories, and two newcomers won seats replacing outgoing councilmen, according to unofficial results. Read more.

• The race for an at-large Tarentum Council seat finished with a razor-thin margin, with Democratic incumbent Scott Dadowski edging Republican newcomer Maggie Smith by nine votes. Read more.

• A Pittsburgh Public Schools board first-vice president cruised to a second term Tuesday, while three newcomers secured board spots following uncontested races. Read more.

Deer Lakes School District voters selected three Democrats and two Republicans to fill five open seats on the school board. Read more.

• The Pine supervisors race was uncontested, with three candidates running for three open seats on the board. According to unofficial results, Republican incumbent and currant board chair Ryan Colombo was the top vote-getter with 2,953 votes. Incumbent John Donahue, who was cross-filed on the ballot along with Incumbent Pat Avolio, received 2,906 votes and 2,764 votes, respectively. Read more.

• Democrat incumbent Pauline Calabrese will serve another four years as mayor of Penn Hills after a landslide victory in the Nov. 7 general election against Republican candidate and deputy mayor Frank Pecora. Read more.

Penn Hills council will remain all-Democrat after Alan Waldron and Shawn Kerestus (a Democrat who was cross-filed on the ballot) outpaced Republican Clayton Walker in the Nov. 7 general election. Read more.

• Five members have been selected from the six candidates running for Penn Hills School Board. According to Allegheny County Office of Elections unofficial election results, Heather Broman, Jackie Blakey-Tate, Erin Vecchio, Robert Marra and Devon Goetze will each serve four-year terms. Read more.

• Democrat Giuseppe Rosselli has been elected as the new Leetsdale area magistrate, according to complete but unofficial returns from the Allegheny County Elections Division. Read more.

• In the only contested race for Fox Chapel Area School Board, Mary Beth Dadd defeated Libertarian Emily Glick on Nov. 7 for the Region 3 seat, according to unofficial returns from the Allegheny County Board of Elections. Read more.

• Democrat Corey Egwrube Ochai defeated Republican Diana Lynn Oliver on Nov. 7 to take a two-year seat on Sharpsburg Council, according to unofficial election returns from the Allegheny County Board of Elections. Read more.

• Paul L. Cullen and Shamus Petrucelli are the apparent winners of two at-large seats on O’Hara Council on Nov. 7, according to unofficial results from the Allegheny County Board of Elections. Read more.

• Republican Matthew J. Brungo is the apparent winner of the district judge race for District 05-02-12, which covers Bradford Woods, Marshall and McCandless townships, according to unofficial vote totals reported Nov. 7 by the Allegheny County Board of Elections. Read more.

• Three Indiana Township incumbents appear to have fended off challengers for supervisor seats while another race is too close to call, according to complete but unofficial returns from the Allegheny County Elections Division. Read more.

• New Kensington-Arnold School Director John Cope retained his seat on the school board Tuesday, but the man he beat will still serve alongside him. Read more.

• A nail-biting night for Mike Doyle ended in his favor Tuesday. Doyle, the Republican president of Plum Council, won the race for the vacant district judge office serving Plum and Oakmont over Democrat Melanie Pallone by 106 votes, according to complete but unofficial Allegheny County election results. • There were still votes to be announced, but it appeared Tuesday night that two incumbents and a Democratic newcomer held off two challengers for the race in Springdale Council, unofficial vote tallies from the Allegheny County Department of Elections showed. Read more.

• In the district judge race for the Lower Valley, Mitchell Karaica held a 65-vote lead over Michael Girardi with 81% of the vote recorded at 9:40 p.m. Tuesday, according to unofficial election results from the Allegheny County Elections Department. Read more.

Westmoreland County

Westmoreland commissioner

• Republicans will retain control of the Westmoreland County board of commissioners. Incumbents Sean Kertes and Doug Chew were reelected Tuesday to second terms in office and will continue to serve as the board majority along with Democrat Ted Kopas. Westmoreland County municipalities races

• The Democrat slate of candidates dubbed “We aRe Norwin” took the lead in a race for five seats on the Norwin School Board, according to unofficial vote totals. Read more.

• Frank Gazze topped a field of six candidates vying for five seats on the Greensburg Salem School Board Tuesday night with 19.4% of the votes cast and 26 of 27 precincts reporting. Read more.

• Three newcomers and two incumbents prevailed in Tuesday’s election for four-year seats on the Franklin Regional school board, according to unofficial vote tallies. Read more.
