Raffle tickets are on sale now until October 19th for Greensburg Hempfield Area Library's Paranormal Investigation Fundraiser with the Greensburg Ghost Society, allowing 18 lucky (or unlucky depending on how you look at it) raffle winners to partake in a little spooky season fun while supporting a great cause.
Greensburg, Pa. (September 10, 2024) " History, philanthropy, and the paranormal will combine at Greensburg Hempfield Area Library (GHAL) this fall. Together with Greensburg Ghost Society (GGS), the duo have created a unique fundraiser for anyone interested in local lore and unexplained experiences.
The GHAL Paranormal Investigation Raffle will award 9 ticket holders and one guest each the opportunity to attend a real-life paranormal investigation at the Library on Saturday, October 26, 2024, from 6-10:00 p.m. led by GGS. The experience will start off with a light dinner, information session and equipment demonstrations, followed by the hands-on investigation.
"We conduct all investigations with an open mind, but approach it with the intent of debunking unexplained happenings," said lead GGS investigator Mike Rudnik. "We've found a lot of things that can be dismissed for one reason or another, but we've also come across things that can't be easily explained. That doesn't necessarily make it haunted… further investigation may be required, and we may never find an explanation. In that case, it's just 'not normal. It's 'paranormal'."
Three teams of six, plus a GGS investigator and library representative, will rotate through all three levels of GHAL practicing the techniques they've learned during the info session. Throughout the investigations, tales of local history and strange happenings will be shared.
A November 7 investigation results program will be held at 6:00 p.m., also at the Library, to review any evidence that might be found. Investigation participants will be invited to attend this program as a panel member to share their experiences and offer their own first-hand stories.
"Greensburg has an abundance of strange history," said head children's librarian and local history buff Jessica Kiefer. "Regardless of your views on the paranormal, this experience will provide insights into local events that you probably never knew."
Tickets are a $15 donation each to the Library, and the proceeds will help with building upkeep and other necessary supplies. Each ticket is one chance for the ticket holder and one guest to win a spot on the investigation team. Unlimited entries are permitted per person. Tickets are on sale now at the Library during regular business hours or online at bit.ly/GhostRaffle2024
