New council leadership
John Orndorff was appointed Glen Osborne council president and Bill Monski was appointed vice president Jan. 21.
Orndorff was vice president last year. He fills the presidential role of Thomas Huddleston, who resigned at the end of last year.
Anne Fruehauf was appointed in December to finish Huddleston’s term, which expires at the end of 2026.
Winter reminder
Edgeworth officials remind residents of a borough ordinance that requires them to shovel their sidewalks within a day after a snow event. Driveways are also to be clear, so Waste Management trucks have access for garbage pickup on Wednesdays.
Garbage may not be picked up until the following week for residents if the truck is not able to make it up the driveway.
Book sale
Sewickley Public Library will host a book sale from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Feb. 7-8 and from 1-3:30 p.m. Feb. 9 at 500 Thorn St. Get great prices on gently used books, movies, music and more. Feb. 9 is Bag Day. Fill a provided back with items for just $5.

Oscar Talk
The Lindsay Theater & Cultural Center will host Oscar Talk, a discussion with local entertainment journalists and film critics, at 2 p.m. Feb. 16 at 418 Walnut St. in Sewickley.
Pittsburgh City Paper entertainment editor Amanda Waltz will moderate the discussion and Q&A panel. Guests include Pittsburgh Magazine’s managing editor and film critic Sean Collier, Associated Press entertainment reporter and film critic Lindsey Bahr and co-founder of the entertainment site The Contending and former Awards Daily reporter Megan McLachlan.

Pop-up bridge games
The Edgeworth Bridge Club is sponsoring POP-UP Bridge games on March 2, April 20 and June 29 from 2-5 p.m. The games will be hosted by The Lindsay Theater and Cultural Center in the community room. All bridge players from beginners, social bridge players to spouses of players, are welcome. The games are free, as is parking on Sundays.

Library presentation
A survivor of Nazi occupation in her childhood, Audrey Hepburn went on to become the it girl of films in the 1960s. Hepburn showcased her inner beauty, grace and style by becoming a noted humanitarian in later years. Discover the life of Audrey Hepburn and delve into her greatest film performances in this documentary-style tribute to Our Fair Lady on Feb. 13 from 7-8:30 p.m.
President of Pittsburgh Classic Movie Club and film historian, Wendy Whittick is all about spreading the word about classic films in the community. Besides her work with Pittsburgh Classic Movie Club, she produces and stars in an award-nominated show on YouTube called Wendy’s Classic Corner, and hosts a fun and insightful film review podcast, Silver Screen Time Machine. On top of that, she provides educational outreach presentations for libraries and the Carnegie Mellon Osher series.

Summer camp
Don’t miss out on Fern Hollow’s Summer Camps this year! Weekly sessions will run from June 9 through Aug. 15 for children ages 3 to 14. Morning, afternoon, and full-day camps on subjects ranging from fishing to sustainability will be offered at Fern Hollow and new off-site locations. All camps include environmental education components, free play, exploration and nature-themed crafts and games. Teenagers (15 and older) are encouraged to apply for camp counselor volunteer positions and resumes for college-aged interns are also being accepted.
Priority registration for Summer Camp begins Feb. 1 for Fern Hollow members, who also benefit from discounted rates. A month later, full-rate registration will open to members of the public. Financial aid and scholarships are available.
