A Halloween themed benefit party is planned for Saturday in Sewickley.

The Edgeworth Club hosts Monster Bash from 7-11:30 p.m. at 511 East Dr.

It is a fundraiser for Christopher’s Kitchen, a nonprofit dedicated to helping sick children and their families.

There will be live and silent auctions for various items including autographed Penguins and Steelers gear, a Cody Sable painting, trips to Europe and other vacation destinations.

The Fabulous Sewickley Dad Band and No Bad Juju will perform.

Other activities include a 50/50 raffle and costume contests.

“It really is a good time,” said nonprofit board member and event coordinator Barb Steinour. “It’s probably one of the very few (events) like this. This is more like the old fashioned costume ball. It’s very nice. We don’t spend all night doing fundraising. It is really a big party.

This will be the fourth annual bash. It was canceled for two years due to the pandemic.

Organizers are hoping for about 300 people and to raise about $30,000.

“It gets us an opportunity to spread the word (about us), get some money, thank the community for how they supported us and educate people on the plight of people that are have children who are chronically ill or are in long-term care,” Steinour said.

Attendees must be at least 21 years old.

Tickets are $125 and available through christopherskitchen.org.

Christopher’s Kitchen was founded in 2010 by Dormont resident Joni D’Alessandro shortly after her 16-year-old stepson, Christopher, committed suicide.

She wanted to take that tragedy and turn it into an inspiration to volunteer and help other families.

The charity provides food and drink to families caring for admitted children at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.
