A man was stabbed in the neck and back Saturday afternoon in Pittsburgh’s Observatory Hill neighborhood, city police said.
The victim was hospitalized in critical condition after being stabbed multiple times in the back shortly after 5 p.m. at a residence in the 300 block of Delaware Street, police said.
Acting EMS Chief Amera Gilchrist, who was off-duty at the time, responded to the reports of the stabbing and provided first aid, police said. She grabbed some towels and box of gloves and found the man on the porch of the home, where she applied pressure to the wounds as police officers arrived and applied combat gauze until medics arrived.
Police said they arrested a male at the scene and charges are pending.
