Trib Total Media TV writer Rob Owen offers a viewing tip for the coming week.

Daytime programming, largely made up of nationally syndicated shows, won’t feature many significant changes this fall with no big-name talk show debuts.

And unlike in prime time, where the concurrent writers’ and actors’ strikes will prevent the return of many scripted dramas and comedies, daytime game shows and talk shows, produced under contracts not impacted by the strikes, will mostly continue on, albeit without actors promoting series and films from struck production companies.

Here are other daytime TV changes to expect:

KDKA-TV

Reruns of CBS’s Queen Latifah-starring “The Equalizer” join the Channel 2 lineup at 12:05 a.m. Sunday beginning Sept. 17.

WPGH-TV

Channel 53 will add just two new daytime series, including “Person, Place or Thing” (11 and 11:30 a.m. beginning Monday), a game show hosted by actress Melissa Peterman (“Reba”) where contestants ask yes or no questions to correctly determine the identity of a person, place or thing.

The station’s other addition to its schedule is a new courtroom show, “Justice for the People with Judge Milian” (1 and 1:30 p.m., Monday), featuring the former star of “The People’s Court.”

WPKD-TV

Pittsburgh’s newly independent Channel 19 — after dropping its affiliation with The CW, changing its call letters from WPCW-TV and adopting the moniker KDKA+ — will overhaul a good chunk on its daytime lineup.

“Cutlers Court” is the first of several reformulated court shows this fall. Married trial attorney couple Keith and Dana Cutler previously presided over “Couples Court with the Cutlers.” New show “Cutlers Court” begins Monday at 9 and 9:30 a.m. featuring relationship disputes from real litigants. (Although “The People’s Court,” which previously aired in that time period, has been canceled, reruns will air weekdays at 4 p.m. on Channel 19).

With “The Drew Barrymore Show” moving to Channel 11, reruns of the canceled “Dr. Phil” will air at 2 p.m. on Channel 19.

“Judge Mathis” ended (a reconstituted Mathis-fronted court show will air on WPNT-TV) so Channel 19 will add runs of “Hot Bench” at 3 and 3:30 p.m.

Additional runs of “Family Feud” will fill the 4 p.m. hour, remain in the 7 p.m. hour and will also air at 8 p.m. until the debut of an hour-long 8 p.m. newscast on Channel 19 later this fall.

At 9 p.m. weeknights beginning Monday, Channel 19 will televise reruns of “48 Hours,” executive produced by Pittsburgh native Judy Tygard, that will feature anchors Jerika Duncan and Jonathan Vigliotti offering updates on previously aired true crime stories.

Channel 19 announced a schedule of Friday night high school football games in June, but a couple of the games have changed. Here’s the current schedule for games airing at 7 p.m. Fridays: Franklin Regional vs. Gateway (Sept. 15), Thomas Jefferson vs. Belle Vernon (Sept. 22), West Mifflin vs. Avonworth (Sept. 29), fans vote week (Oct. 6), Penn Hills vs. Central Catholic (Oct. 13), Bishop Canevin vs. OLSH (Oct. 20) and Aliquippa vs. Central Valley (Oct. 27).

During fall high school football season, the Friday night run of “48 Hours” will move to 11:30 p.m.

WPNT-TV

The biggest change to Channel 22 is its new affiliation with The CW, replacing My Network TV in prime time.

In daytime, the former “Judge Mathis” was ended by one production company and the new “Mathis Court” (4 and 4:30 p.m. weekdays, Sept. 11) launches from a different company but featuring the same star, Greg Mathis.

Reruns of A&E show “Court Cam” come to WPNT-TV, airing at 10 p.m. weeknights starting Monday.

Channel 22’s “Friday Night Rivals” (7 p.m. Fridays), local high school football coverage similar to what WPKD-TV is adding this fall, returns with Belle Vernon at Penn-Trafford (Sept. 15), Mt. Lebanon at Seneca Valley (Sept. 22), Highlands at Mars Area (Sept. 29), North Allegheny at Mt. Lebanon (Oct. 6), North Catholic at Avonworth (Oct. 13), South Fayette at Bethel Park (Oct. 20) and Central Catholic at Gateway (Oct. 27). Games will also stream at https://22thepoint.com/watch.

WPXI-TV

Reruns of GSN’s “People Puzzler,” hosted by Leah Remini, moves into the 1:30 p.m. weekday slot beginning Monday. The game show is based on a People magazine crossword puzzle and replaces “Ring Nation.”

“The Drew Barrymore Show” relocates from WPKD beginning Monday when it will air in Channel 11’s 2- 3 p.m. time period replacing the recently concluded “Rachael Ray Show.”

True crime news show “Justice Rules” slides into the 1 and 1:30 a.m. time slots beginning Monday.

WTAE-TV

Channel 4 adds just two programs on the weekend with “Street Magic” (3 a.m. Sunday beginning tonight), featuring various magicians doing tricks, and reruns of Weather Channel’s “Fast: Home Rescue” (11:30 p.m. Saturday beginning Sept. 16), which follows a married couple as they rebuild homes destroyed by natural disasters.
