Welcome to 2025! The first weekend of the new year is the perfect time to start on those resolutions. Did you resolve to get in shape? Get into art? Just have more fun? Pittsburgh’s got some great events to help you on your way to those goals. Here are a few.
Jagged Little Thrill: The Alanis Experience
If you lived through 1996, you probably had Alanis Morissette’s “Jagged Little Pill” in your car’s tape deck. Friday night’s your chance to hear it performed live by the ultimate tribute to the Canadian singer.
Performing “Jagged Little Pill” in full — along with more of Morissette’s other timeless hits — the band will hit the stage at 8 p.m. Friday at the Hard Rock Cafe in Station Square.

Pittsburgh Pickleball 2025 Kickoff Social
Is getting into fitness on your to-do list for this year? Pickleball is a fast-growing sport enjoyed by players of all skill levels, from beginners on up. Pittsburgh Pickleball will hold an event Saturday to bring the sport’s local community together and start off the new year.
The event will be held at the Pickleball Warehouse in Point Breeze North and will include games for all levels. There will also be food, drinks, activities, music and more. There will be pickleball-related challenges, too, so even if you don’t feel like a head-to-head match, you can still have a good time.
The event will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Learn more and register at 412pickleball.com.
Luis Carreon at Liberty Magic
Expand your horizons with Luis Carreon’s captivating one-man show, where he uses comedy, magic and his own life experiences to bring audiences an unforgettable experience. Carreon has performed both nationally and internationally, in respected magic venues and even on television.
The 70-minute show “Luis Carreon in La Bestia” (“The Beast” in Spanish) will be held this weekend at Liberty Magic in Downtown Pittsburgh. There will be a Friday performance at 7:30 p.m.; shows Saturday at 5 and 8 p.m.; and a Sunday show at 6:30 p.m.

Unblurred
Unblurred is a longstanding first Friday of the month tradition, but the festival of art that takes place between the 4800 and 5500 blocks of Penn Avenue is holding its first event of 2025 on Friday night. If you haven’t checked it out, there’s never a better time to start than the present!
The event — held from 3 to 11 p.m. Friday — will include live performances, art shows, interactive experiences and so much more. Learn about local fixtures such as the Pittsburgh Glass Center and view art from local artists along the way.

Night of 1,000 Britneys
Dance the night away to throwback jams at Bottlerocket Social Hall in Pittsburgh’s Allentown neighborhood on Friday night. Starting at 10 p.m. it’ll be wall-to-wall Spears hits, deep cuts, mashups and remixes.
There will also be a midnight Britney Spears costume contest, so make sure to comb through all those old music videos — and your closet — to find the perfect outfit to beat the rest. Tickets are $10 and available at bottlerocketpgh.com.
