The Westmoreland County Historical Society, the official historical society for the county, is an educational organization that manages historical resources in order to educate a large and diverse audience about the more than 225 year history of Westmoreland County in ways that offer people connections to the past, an understanding of the present, and guidance for the future. Founded in 1908, the Historical Society is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit corporation. The Society maintains a 700,000 item archival collection; the 5000-volume Calvin E. Pollins Memorial Library for local history and genealogical research; a 3,500 item curatorial collection; administers Historic Hanna's Town and manages over one-million artifacts from Hanna's Town archaeological site.
