Jane Cochran, 98, Sewickley Township, died Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2024. She was born May 2, 1926, daughter of the late William and Alta (Blackburn) McGrew. Jane was a member of West Newton Methodist Church where she had been a member of the choir and an associate organist, started the quilters group, and was past president of the United Methodist Women. An avid seamstress and gardener, she was known for her homemade bread and raspberry jelly, but especially her amazing lifelong generosity. Surviving are five children, Deborah Brown and husband, Donald, William A. Cochran and wife, Joyce, James E. Cochran, Thomas W. Cochran, and John A. Cochran and wife, Joan B.; seven grandchildren, Erin Meyer and husband, Philip, Shane Sebek and wife, Jodi, Ashley Holmquist, Travis Dixon and husband, Michael, Rachel J. Hegedus and husband, Jason, Lauren P. Smith and husband, Caleb, and Jessica P. Cochran; six great-grandchildren, Athena Meyer, Meredith Hegedus, Jonathan Hegedus, Emmett Smith, Jaida, and Jase; a brother, James McGrew; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne A. Cochran; and a granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Cochran. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Friday at the J. WILLIAM MCCAULEY, JR. FUNERAL HOME, 901 Vine St., West Newton, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday. Interment will follow in West Newton Cemetery.
