Eleven high school marching bands performed Sept. 17 during the 77th annual Alle-Kiski Valley Marching Band Festival.

The band fest — the longest running in Western Pennsylvania — took place at Valley High School in New Kensington.

The Penn Hills “Big Red” Marching Band was among the nearly 900 musicians who participated. Besides Valley, the other schools were Apollo-Ridge, Burrell, Deer Lakes, Freeport Area, Highlands, Kiski Area, Leechburg, Plum and Springdale.

The bands played and marched to selections from their halftime show performances.

Next up for Penn Hills is the Thomas Jefferson Band Festival on Oct. 5.
