South Arts hosts artist market

South Arts Pittsburgh will host a two-day artist market from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 9 and 10 at the Schoolhouse Arts and History Center, 2600 South Park Road, Bethel Park.

The market includes local vendors displaying and selling their work on the first and second floors, and South Arts members’ artwork for sale in one of the classrooms of the historic schoolhouse.

Jewelry, cards, and matted prints also will be available. Cash, checks and credit cards are accepted.

Ruthfred Acres Woman’s Club

The Ruthfred Acres Woman’s Club will meet Nov. 12 at the Schoolhouse Arts and History Center, 2600 South Park Road, Bethel Park.

Lunch is at noon, followed by a 1 p.m. program presented by Brian DeLong, a retired Air Force Veteran who is regional director of Guardian Angels Medical Service Dogs.

Dogs trained by Guardian Angels are donated to recipients at no cost.

At each meeting, members bring nonperishable food items to donate to South Hills Interfaith Movement. This month, members also will bring toys for Operation Troop Appreciation, and next month is an Adopt a Family at Christmas project.

South Hills Coin Club

South Hills Coin Club will meet at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 12 at the Bethel Park Municipal Building, 5100 W. Library Ave. The public is invited.

Chamber hosts Veterans Lunch

The Chamber, serving Bethel Park, Castle Shannon and South Park Township, will host a Veterans Lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Bethel Park Community Center, 5151 Park Ave.

Lunch is free for veterans and $20 for guests.

Sponsoring the event is G.I. Plumbing on South Park Road. Owner Matt Garfold is a U.S. Marine Corps who served in Iraq and Kuwait.

The Chamber’s monthly networking is from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Nov. 14 at Dunkin’ Donuts on South Park Road. Enjoy free coffee and donuts on the Chamber.

An Our Lady of Hope Parish blood drive is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 23 in Frawley Hall at St. Valentine’s Catholic Church, 2700 Ohio St., Bethel Park.

‘Christmas County Spelling Bee’

The South Hills Church of the Nazarene Acting Up Club will present the musical “The Christmas County Spelling Bee” at 6 p.m. Dec. 7 and 8 at the church, 5601 Library Road, Bethel Park.

Admission is free. A cookie reception will follow the performances.
