An Ohio man jailed since May after he was accused of stalking a singer at her Murrysville home was paroled Monday after he pleaded guilty to three misdemeanor charges.
Anthony A. Carpenter, 44, of Rutland, Ohio, had been in jail without bond for more than six months after he was charged by Murrysville police related to complaints filed by Lacey Sturm, the singer for the alternative metal band Flyleaf, who claimed she was being repeatedly stalked.
Westmoreland County Common Pleas Judge Tim Krieger sentenced Carpenter to serve up to 23 months in jail but paroled him under conditions that included he return to Ohio and have no contact with the singer, her family or her property.
Carpenter also was ordered to serve one additional year on probation, undergo a mental health evaluation and complete any recommended treatment.
During a hearing last summer, witnesses testified Carpenter was spotted on the family’s property at least three times and sent hundreds of emails, including some that contained what were described as threats and declarations of love for the singer.
