Beaver County man accused of leading police chase, fighting officer
A Beaver County man is in custody after Pennsylvania State Police said he led them in a vehicle chase in Industry Borough and attacked an officer before being arrested.
According to a statement from state police, an officer encountered Douglas Nevill on the road on Tuesday and attempted to conduct a traffic stop to take him into custody. Nevill has multiple felony warrants out of Brighton Township Police Department, said state police.
When the officer attempted to stop Nevill, state police said Nevill fled, leading a short chase before he flipped his vehicle and allegedly attempted to flee on foot. He began to fight an officer and was eventually taken into custody.
Nevill is facing multiple charges including aggravated assault and terroristic threats. He is being held at the Butler County Jail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 8.
Pittsburgh T riders face delays, closures
Portions of the light-rail system in Pittsburgh will be closed for about three months.
Crews began repairing the plinth, the concrete beam that supports the tracks, on Thursday according to Pittsburgh Regional Transit.
Rail service from the South Hills will temporarily end at First Avenue Station. Riders can get a shuttle from First Avenue to Steel Plaza, where service will resume with trains heading to Wood Street, Gateway, North Side and Allegheny Stations. Work is expected to be finished by early February.
Once that work is completed, from early February to early March, the light-rail system will be closed between Steel Plaza and Gateway stations.
While this work is being completed, trains from Steel Plaza will be directed to Penn Station near the Pennsylvanian, where shuttle buses will operate every 10 minutes to connect riders to Gateway Station, where they can get a train to North Side or Allegheny stations.
Work will be paused for Steelers home games.
