Trailer fire shuts down Parkway West

Four fire companies responded to a vehicle fire late Tuesday night that shut down a section of the Parkway West (Interstate 376).

The fire, in the cab of a tractor-trailer in the westbound lanes, was reported around 11 p.m. near the Rosslyn Farms exit.

Because of the scope of the incident, officials from the Green Tree Volunteer Fire Company said both sides of the Parkway were shut down for several hours.

The highway has since been reopened to traffic.

North Braddock man shot at delivery driver, police say

A North Braddock man was charged with shooting at a delivery driver following a near vehicle crash Monday morning.

Allegheny County Police charged Dontae Brown, 36, with aggravated assault, terroristic threats, reckless endangering and tampering with evidence.

The delivery driver told police he was nearly struck by a silver sedan at a stop sign. As the driver pulled onto Copeland Avenue, he saw the sedan parked on the 200 block, and a man later identified as Brown approached and pointed a gun at him.

As the delivery driver fled the area, his vehicle was struck at least three times by gunfire, police said. The driver was not injured.

Detectives were able to identify Brown and the home he entered following the shooting, and he was taken into custody a short time later.

Brown’s bail was denied and he was taken to the Allegheny County Jail. A March 4 preliminary hearing is scheduled in District Judge Scott Schricker’s Duquesne court.
