LEWISBURG — Several WPIAL individuals and relays will return Friday evening to swim in championship heats at the PIAA Class 3A championships at Bucknell’s Kinney Natatorium.

The girls consolation and championship finals will begin at 4:35 p.m. with the boys races to follow at 6:55. All of the heats will be broadcast live on the Pennsylvania Cable Network.

The North Allegheny girls 200-yard medley relay (1:46.76) heads to the finals as the fifth seed.

The WPIAL has the top two seeds for the championship heat of the girls 200 free. Fox Chapel’s Sarah Pasquella is first after swimming a 1:49.61 in the prelims, while North Allegheny’s Claire Bacu is second (1:49.85).

Defending 50 free state champ Molly Workman, a junior from State College, is the top seed for the 50 free (22.46). Mt. Lebanon’s Sylvia Roy is right behind as the No. 2 seed (22.85).

Peters Township’s Lauren Opitz (fourth, 56.27) and Latrobe’s Lauren Bell (eighth, 57.24) will represent the WPIAL in the finals of the 100 butterfly.

The North Allegheny girls 200 free relay will come back in the finals as the No. 4 seed (1:36.59). Fox Chapel is fifth (1:36.78).

On the boys side, Upper St. Clair leads a pair of WPIAL teams in the finals of the 200 medley relay. The Panthers are the No. 3 seed (1:32.19), while North Allegheny is seeded fifth (1:33.29).

Upper St. Clair’s Nazar Zoukovski will lead the WPIAL in the finals of the 200 free as the fourth seed (1:39.97). Central Catholic’s McClellan Clark is the seventh seed (1:40.31), while Fox Chapel’s Christian Dantey is seeded eighth (1:40.39).

Four from the WPIAL will be in the finals of the 200 individual medley: North Allegheny’s Danny Lesinski (third, 1:51.45), Central Catholic’s Cinco Perez (fourth, 1:51.55), Fox Chapel’s Owen Howell (fifth, 1:51.65) and Mt. Lebanon’s Rinzen Sherpa (seventh, 1:51.99).

Mars senior Luke Lamb is set up to go after PIAA gold in the 50 free. He is the fifth seed for the finals after swimming a prelim time of 20.54. North Allegheny’s Grant Regule is seeded seventh (20.70).

Regule’s Tigers teammate, Gus Miller, dropped time in the prelims of the 100 fly, and he is the top seed for the finals (49.15).

Regule and Miller will help pace the top-seeded North Allegheny 200 free relay with Mason Shantz and Zach Totin. They swam to a time of 1:23.27 in the prelims Friday morning.

Upper St. Clair is right on their heels as the second seed (1:24.21).
