In 1964 if you sat at the family dinner table with a ball cap on, you were told to remove it. In 2004 Howard Dean on the campaign trail yelled “YEAH!” and that one action doomed his presidential campaign. Today we have a president who constantly wears a baseball hat , uses foul language and threatens governors, senators, members of Congress and four-star generals.
He has an aide who swings chainsaws while wearing goofy-looking sunglasses and slashes jobs indiscriminately while yelling like he is mentally deranged. Elon Musk visits and speaks from the Oval Office while carrying on his shoulders one of the 12 children he has to three different women. The child is cute but is displayed like a puppy dog while picking his nose. Musk is estranged from one of his daughters, it seems because she is transgender, and the far right look at him like a hero. That behavior is never acceptable for a parent.
When a jeweler is designing and cutting a wheel for a fine timepiece, he does it with a fine jewelers’ saw so he can shape the piece without removing needed metal. When Musk waves his chainsaw to cut employees from the federal workforce, he cuts many employees who are needed. Do Musk and Trump realize that a chainsaw cannot make the intricate and precision cuts that are needed to help government work with efficiency?
It’s very sad commentary. Where and when did decorum disappear from our government and country? America will ultimately pay the price for this destructive behavior.
