Parts of Western Pennsylvania are under a tornado watch until 4 p.m. Sunday as severe weather pummels the region.
Six counties in the commonwealth — including Indiana — remain under the tornado watch, according to the National Weather Service in Moon. The others include:
- Armstrong
- Clarion
- Jefferson
- Forest
- Venango
Cities affected include Brookville, Clarion, Davis, Ford City, Franklin, Indiana, Kingwood, Kittanning, Oil City, Parsons, Punxsutawney, Terra Alta, Thomas and Tionesta, the NWS said.
Southeastern Allegheny, Westmoreland, Fayette and southern Indiana counties were under a severe thunderstorm warning until 2 p.m. Sunday, according to the NWS.
Hazards included 70 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail. Hail damage to vehicles, “considerable” tree damage and wind damage were expected, the NWS said.

And some areas are experiencing widespread power outages.
Duquesne Light Co., which services the Pittsburgh area, has reported 7,488 customers are without power as of 3:15 p.m., according to its online Outage Map.
“Our crews are working as safely and quickly as possible to assess and repair damage caused by high winds on Sunday afternoon,” the company said on its website.
