Goaltender Sergei Murashov made 23 saves on 26 shots for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a 5-3 win against the rival Lehigh Valley Phantoms at the PPL Center in Allentown on Sunday.

With the victory, Murashov remained undefeated (9-0-0) in the American Hockey League this season.

Forward Joona Koppanen scored two goals for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (33-17-7-1) while forwards Tristan Broz, Avery Hayes and Valtteri Puustinen all contributed goals.

Making his professional debut, Penguins defenseman Chase Pietila opened the contest on the right side of the third pairing.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins forward Vasily Ponomarev (undisclosed injury) and defenseman Mac Hollowell (illness) were scratched. According to the team’s radio broadcast, Ponomarev is considered “day to day.”

A goal and two assists by forward Zach Gallant led the Wheeling Nailers to a 3-1 win against the Cincinnati Cyclones at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling, W.Va.

Forward Jordan Martel recorded two assists for Wheeling (34-21-3-1) while defenseman Isaac Belliveau and forward Kyle Jackson each contributed a goal.

Goaltender Taylor Gauthier made 25 saves on 26 shots to improve his record to 12-9-2.

The Nailers’ next game is a road contest against the Toledo Walleye on Friday, 7:15 p.m.
