Lenten Soup Supper
Enjoy prayer, fellowship and a delicious soup and bread meal March 25 from 6:30-8 p.m. in the Saint Scholastica Social Hall.
The evening will feature an informal presentation and conversation with Fr. Pierre Marie France, parochial vicar of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish, Mid-Mon Valley, and members of the Haitian community there. Learn about efforts to support the community and the Christian call to care for immigrants and refugees. All are welcome.

Community education planned
The Pennsylvania State Police will host an Active Shooter Community Educational Night from 6-8:30 p.m. March 26 at Fox Chapel Area High School, 611 Field Club Road.
The purpose of the free event is to enable residents from across the greater Pittsburgh area to understand the topic of active shooter, collect free resources to improve personal and community safety, and meet the members of the local Fox Chapel Area municipal police departments.
It is open to community members from across the Pittsburgh region, as well as schools, businesses, houses of worship and community leaders.
District police, along with municipal police departments throughout the Fox Chapel Area, are expected to participate. Other agencies signed up for the event include the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Risk and Vulnerability Assessment Team, Allegheny Health Network and the Pennsylvania Criminal Intelligence Center/Fusion Center.
The presentation will be given by Trooper Rocco Gagliardi, a public information officer for the Pennsylvania State Police. The topics will include updated statistics related to active shooter events; the Run, Hide, Fight method of active shooter safety; and preparedness in the event of an active shooter event.

Fox Families Care Gala
Fox Families Care, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting families in need, is holding its Swing Into Spring Annual Gala on April 11 at Fox Chapel Golf Club. The evening aims to raise vital funds for programs that provide essential resources, financial assistance and educational opportunities to families facing hardship in the community.

The specially themed Casino Night promises an unforgettable night of philanthropy while testing luck at a variety of classic casino table games, including blackjack, poker, roulette and craps. Harts Run Road work
Work to improve Harts Run Road in Hampton and Indiana townships is expected to continue through late October, weather permitting.
Single-lane alternating traffic is in place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays on Harts Run Road between Route 8 and Saxonburg Boulevard as crews conduct drainage improvements, surveying and milling and paving operations. The work started March 10.
The prime contractor for the nearly $12 million group paving project is A. Liberoni Inc.
Flaggers will be on-site, and motorists are urged to use caution.
Tee ball registration
Aspinwall Tee Ball is announcing its third season for children aged 3-8. Games will start on June 14 and run for 10 Saturdays with an optional Under the Lights game at the end of the season. New this year is a more experienced group for ages 6-8, which will start the season on a tee, but will graduate to coach pitch within a few weeks. Ages 3-6 with little to no experience will continue to use the tee.

There will be an open house on April 14 from 6-8 p.m. at the Aspinwall Borough Building for in-person questions and registrations. The registration form can be found on the Aspinwall Tee Ball Facebook page or you can register in-person at the Borough Building during business hours. Deadline to register is May 5.
Fox Chapel Day
The fifth annual Fox Chapel Day is planned for noon-4 p.m. June 14 at McCahill Park.
Activities include a petting zoo, ice sculpture demonstrations, food vendors, pony rides, a trackless train and bounce houses.
Local community organizations will have informational and activity booths.

Senior Citizens Luncheon
The Fox Chapel Area School District annual senior citizens’ luncheon will be held on March 22 at 11 a.m. in the Fox Chapel Area High School cafeteria. A high school chamber ensemble will play during the luncheon and the event is sponsored by the Fox Chapel Area High School Fox Leadership Council Community Outreach Committee.

Art show
After three decades of introducing kindergarteners to the power of art, artist Leigh Bishop turned the tables to channel her inner artist to create a collection of recent work influenced by pop art and inner reflection. Pairing whimsy with thoughtfulness, her style reminds viewers of the child within us all.

Christ the King Parish is offering a Lenten Taizé service at 7 p.m. March 31 at Saint Edward Church in Blawnox. The Taizé Service, presented in a candle-lit environment, is a simple, meditative form of evening prayer.

AAUW meets monthly
The Fox Chapel area branch of the American Association of University Women meets at 9:30 a.m. on the second Tuesday of each month from September through May at Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church, 384 Fox Chapel Road.
The group advances equity for women and girls through advocacy, philanthropy, education and research.
Meetings are free and open to anyone interested in joining.
In addition to the monthly meetings, the branch offers members a variety of interest groups as well as numerous opportunities for community service involvement.
AAUW is open to all graduates who hold an associate or equivalent, baccalaureate or higher degree from a qualified college or university. Those enrolled in an associate or a bachelor’s degree program can join AAUW as Student Affiliate Members.
