The Lenten Midweek series is an extension of the “I Am” series and will feature five guest speakers from five different Pittsburgh churches. Speakers will expand upon the “I Am” statements of Jesus, inviting participation with Jesus and bringing a salvation connection to life in dynamic and tangible ways. The Wednesday Midweek series will begin with dinner at the Lakeside Cafe at 5:30 p.m. Worship and teaching begins at 6:30 p.m. followed by a small group table discussion. A Healing Mass will be celebrated at St. James Church on March 28 at 11 a.m. A Healing Mass is a special type of religious service that focuses on prayer and intercession for physical, emotional and spiritual healing.

Lenten Soup and Studies will meet every Wednesday through April 9. Dinner is served from 6–6:40 p.m., followed by study for adults, youth and children from 6:45–7:30 p.m. There is no cost to attend, but registration is requested each week. The adult and youth study, “Pop Culture and Faith,” will be led by Rev. Davenport and Rev. Creamer. Children will meet for their own study, “Soup and Studies.”
Club 345 is an afterschool program for kids in grades 3, 4 and 5 that meets in the Faith House on Wednesdays from 3:45-5:15 p.m. All kids are welcome to attend but registration is required. A form can be found on the church website.

Sewickley United Methodist Church has two services each Sunday: 9 a.m. contemporary, featuring our praise band Leap of Faith; and 11 a.m. traditional, with nursery care and children’s ministries during both services.

St. Brendan’s Episcopal Church

St. Brendan’s is an open, welcoming and active church that holds in-person worship with Eucharist at 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. Sundays and 6 p.m. Wednesdays. Nursery coverage is available for children at the Sunday 10 o’clock service, which is livestreamed on YouTube.
The church holds a monthly Children’s Service at 10 a.m. on the fourth Sunday of each month, inviting young members to take part by reading and serving during the liturgy. The next Children’s Service will take place on April 27.
The next Mask-Up Sunday will be March 30, when everyone at the 10 a.m. service will be asked to wear a mask. The courtesy provides extra protection so that members with health concerns can worship in person.
During every Wednesday in Lent, St. Brendan’s will offer a simple supper after the 5 p.m. service. Participants should bring soup, salad or bread to share. Those who can’t make the service are still welcome to come for the meal around 6 p.m.
The Justice Ministry is sponsoring a Lenten project to help the homeless. Members may pick up a calendar in the church lobby that lists a daily item or service that homeless people usually cannot access, i.e., a doctor’s visit, a shower or a home-cooked meal. The calendar then requests a small donation — at least 25 cents to $1 — for the day if the parishioner has those items. The money collected will go to Outreached Arms, a Pittsburgh nonprofit.
The next Taize will take place on April 30 at 5 p.m. The quiet, contemplative service provides time for meditation and a pause in the busy pace of modern life.

St. Brendan’s Adopt-a-Highway chapter will perform its first litter cleanup of 2025 on March 29. Volunteers will meet at the church at 8:30 a.m. and carpool to the Camp Horne Road interchange of I-279 in Ohio Twp.
The parish will hold its Spring Cleanup on April 5 from 9 a.m. to noon. Volunteers are asked to bring gloves, garden tools and cleaning supplies to help out.
The Book Club will meet at 1 p.m. April 7 to discuss “The Ride of Her Life” by Elizabeth Letts. The bestseller tells the true story of a woman who rode her horse across America in the 1950s.
Sticks & Strings, the church group that likes to knit, crochet or embroider, meets on the third Tuesday and first Wednesday of every month at 6 p.m. in the library.

St. Paul’s Lutheran Church will hold Foodie Fridays on the last Friday of each month. Soups and a variety of foods will be available to take out or eat in, beginning at 11:30 a.m. until sold out.

The Kids’ Community Closet is a “free-cycle” community space to share kids’ clothes (birth through size 14/16). All clothing is free and in good, very gently used condition — some items still have tags on. There are no applications, income requirements, or donations necessary.

This year’s theme during Lent is “Be Transformed.” On Sundays, we will explore the call and path to transformation found in Romans 12:1-12.
On Wednesday evenings through April 9, we will explore tools for transformation in “Spiritual Disciplines for the 21st Century.” Each Wednesday we will share a meal at 6:30 p.m. and then begin our discussion at 7 p.m. Our format this year is exciting and different: We are going to be intentionally inter-generational, inviting children, students and adults into the conversation together.
