The Pittsburgh Penguins are plodding toward the end of the season. The Pirates are limping out of the gate. And the Steelers’ situation continues to be the butt of jokes across the NFL.

So, yeah. People are mad. That’s why we post “U mad, bro?” every week.

Where would you be without us?!

This guy has a thought about T.J. Watt’s Instagram post heard ’round the world.

Ha! You think Watt needed his agent to tell him to post that? Now, who is the one being childlike? It’s awfully naive to think that Watt isn’t acting on his own.

By the way, like you, I also said Watt is likely to sign a new contract. I just don’t want the Steelers immediately acquiescing to his jealous demands to be paid like Myles Garrett.

I posted a web poll about what the Steelers should do at quarterback. You can see how a guy named “FinallyRetired” replied.

Well, at this point, aren’t “none of the above and “Mason Rudolph kind of accomplishing the same task?

That said, I think Aaron Rodgers should adopt your “X” handle … and apply it to real life too.

Here’s Bob’s take on the Pirates.

Nutting is delusional, and Shelton is incompetent, and the players are basically a rag-tag collection of minor-leaguers, a couple of semi-retired has-beens and maybe two players (Reynolds and Hayes) who would be starters on any other team. The organization has failed to teach its players the basics of baseball…they can’t bunt, obviously never practice bunting, which is stupid on a team that has mostly pop-corn hitters, they can’t hit a sac fly, IKF throws off the wrong foot, Cruz is lost, and their catchers look like high school catchers. Worse, this team has no leadership, no spirit…it looks like a bunch of zombies who can’t wait for the game to be over…and their lackadaisical attitude is infecting the fans…they don’t care, either.

Yeah, but aside from that, things are going well, dontcha think?

Fansville412 replied to a column I wrote that criticized the Penguins … by saying that too many people in the media avoid criticizing the Penguins.

Why are the Penguins getting a pass for (stinking) for the last 3 years? Yet the Steelers make the playoffs pretty much every year and get ripped to shreds. Deservedly, mind you, but why the free pass for the Penguins? And it’s not even worth talking about the Pirates.

Well, that was me not giving them a free pass. Not sure what else I can do there.

Fly a banner over PPG Paints Arena? That’s not as effective for an indoor facility, but I’ll give it some consideration.

But, to your greater point, I do agree. Of the three teams in town, the Pens get the least amount of heat for multiple reasons.

1. They’ve won a title most recently among the three teams. The coach and four-star players on that team are holdovers from that era.

2. By nature, as much as it has grown, hockey is still a niche sport. There is still a much greater communal feeling to it, and generally, fans are more forgiving of the players and teams they support.

Unless it’s the goalie. If he messes up, screw him!

Oh, and any defenseman your team signed in free agency from another club. Everything that isn’t the goalie’s fault is that guy’s fault.

3. Hockey just isn’t as mainstream and played as much as football, basketball and baseball in most American towns. When the local NFL, MLB or NBA team stinks, you get enraged. When the hockey team stinks, you ignore it.

Eli chimed in on that column too.

Joonas Korpisalo would be an upgrade on Alex Nedeljkovic, but he costs $1.5 million a year more, just to have another goalie with exactly the same save percentage (.893) as Tristan Jarry.

Plus, that’s just another $4 million blockade to Joel Blomqvist and Sergei Murashov.

Although, it would be hilarious for the Bruins to bring back Mike Sullivan after he lost his magic touch when they probably fired him too quickly in 2006 at the start of his career.

Finally, this is “Eddie X with an assessment of Pirates owner Bob Nutting.

“PT BARNUM!”

I dunno, Eddie. Based on attendance so far this year, if there still really is “a sucker being born every minute, they are no longer coming to PNC Park.

Also, when Barnum let his clowns out of the car every night under the big top, at least they were entertaining.
