Events at Scott Library
Scott Township Public Library is hosting fundraising events in the upcoming days.
The Spring Vendor Fair is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 26 at the Scott Township Municipal Building, 301 Lindsay Road. The event is free. Raffles, food truck and various vendors will be offered.
The Friends of Scott Township Public Library will host a spring book sale May 1 to 4. A variety of used books, games, puzzles, DVDs and CDs will be available for purchase. Baked goods also will be for sale Saturday and Sunday. A $5 bag day will be on Sunday, and there will be various flash sales all three days. Payment is by cash or check only.
A library member-only night is 5 to 7 p.m. May 1, and non-members can join the library at that event. Hours the following days are noon to 4 p.m. May 2; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 3; and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 4.
Help keep Collier beautiful
Collier’s cleanup day is scheduled for 8 a.m. to noon April 26 at the community center, 5 Lobaugh St.
Register to volunteer as an individual or a group by calling 724-693-0780 or at colliertownship.net. Preregistration is required.
Participants will meet at the community center’s banquet room for check-in and receive their cleanup location. Vests, gloves and trash bags will be handed out to each volunteer. First responders will be out to ensure safety at each location and to assist with traffic control.
Lunch will be served following the cleanup.
‘Can’t Sit Still Run/Walk’ slated in Collier
The Pennsylvania Tourette Syndrome Alliance is hosting a fun run in Collier on April 27.
The 5K course is on the panhandle trail, near the Walkers Mill Road entrance. Parking is available at 110 Noblestown Road. The race starts at 9 a.m. Registration is $30 for the 5K and $20 for the 1-mile race.

Pet Rescue donation drive
Bridgeville Borough and Brentwood Bank are hosting a donation drive to benefit the South Hills Pet Rescue.
Donations can be made at the borough lobby, 425 Bower Hill Road, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday through April 29.
Requested items include unopened Purina One chicken and rice dog food, rope slip lead leashes, squeaky toys, tennis balls, liquid laundry soap and 33-40 gallon trash bags.
College Club of Carnegie
The College Club of Carnegie will meet May 3 at Scoglio’s Restaurant, Pine Bridge Commons, Suite 102, 1580 McLaughlin Run Road.
There will be a Social at 11:30 a.m. with lunch served at noon.
“Kentucky Derby Daze” will be the theme of the meeting.
A 50-50 Raffle will be offered to benefit the scholarship fund program. Women with postsecondary educations are invited.

Scams program
Collier police are sponsoring an identity theft/scams program from 10 to 11 a.m. May 15 at the Collier Community Center, 5 Lobaugh St.
The Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office will give the presentation. It will cover actions recommended by police and financial experts to reduce the likelihood of becoming a victim of financial theft.

Chartiers Valley comings and goings
The Chartiers Valley School Board approved several personnel moves at its April 8 meeting.
Appointments include Mackenzie Haines, school psychologist; and Joshua Kirby, equipment manager.
The board also approved teachers and paraprofessionals for its extended school year program. K-5 paraprofessionals include Michelle Waldern, Taylor Scott, Courtney Holliday, Marian Babish, Cathy Matko, Hannah Kaupinis, Lindsey Avon and Jan Sloss; 6-12 paraprofessionals are Mary Plute and Sandra Mihaly; and substitute paraprofessionals include Sharon Chiodo and Laura Cozza.
ESY teachers are Ally Lounder and Kyla Burley, 6-12; Christina Mulligan, Sandy Owens, Randy Watson and Kayla Losekamp, K-5 life skills; Christian Owens and Alyssa Hoffman, learning and emotional support; Maya Vaughan, K-12 floater; Elizabeth Musial, speech pathologist; Kelly Koslow, nurse; MaryEllen Peduzzi, in-home instruction; and Colleen Dougherty, substitute.

Scott Township’s website has a new tool to make searching for information easier.
“Scotti”, a plugin AI, will appear in the lower right corner of the screen on the township website.

License plate replacement
Collier police and state Rep. Anita Kulik, D-Carnegie, are hosting a license plate replacement event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 6 at the Collier Community Center, 5 Lobaugh St.
Collier police will assist in filling out paperwork for a replacement license plate through PennDOT. People should bring a photo of their damaged or worn license plate to the event.

Farmers market vendors wanted
Scott officials are seeking interested vendors to participate in the township’s outdoor farmers market at Scott Township Park, 2 Park Drive.
The market kicks off May 21 and runs every Wednesday until Oct. 15. Hours are 4 to 7 p.m.

Bridgeville Area Historical Society
The Bridgeville Area Historical Society offers the following upcoming programs at the Chartiers Room at the Bridgeville Volunteer Fire Department:
• “The General, The Major and the Sargent: The Story of the 29th Division, the Stonewallers, at Omaha Beach and the Battle for Normandy,” presented by Glenn Flickinger, April 29.
• “The American Revolution in Western Pa.,” presented by Brady Crytzer, May 27.
The programs are free and start at 7:30 p.m.
Cash bash
Bridgeville Volunteer Fire Department is hosting a cash bash from 6 to 11 p.m. May 3 at the Chartiers Room.

Gregg Avenue steps
Construction of Bridgeville’s Gregg Avenue steps are beginning in late April and will continue through June, according to the borough.
The steps connect Laurel Street, McLaughlin Run Road and Greenwood Place.
This project is funded in part by a state grant, which covers 70% of the costs.
Community garage sale
Bridgeville’s Community Garage Sale Weekend is June 28 and 29.
Times are 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The event is boroughwide.

Scott Township is asking for residents’ feedback.
The township opened a survey on its website, scott-twp.com, to share feedback with the municipality’s services or facilities.
